Skipping the opening animation helps, but I'm not burning through those 99 common/rare crystals until they add the ability to release a blade from the screen that shows you its status right after opening it.
Fair, but you can still release them in droves. I tend to keep opening cores until I find something noteworthy, and I use that noteworthy blade as a bookmark. Playing on the go is probably the perfect time to do this, since you have plenty of time to burn.

Found my first rare Blade. Godfrey.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! You poor bastard. Don't bother with that piece of scum.

He's pretty common for a Rare Blade, along with Perun, Kora and Boreas.
He's also the worst rare blade in the game, and the worst weapon class in the game.
Now I would get kinda salty if someone's first Blade was KOS-MOS cause she was my second last one.

So last night when opening a handful of my endless supply of rare crystals, I obtained T-ELOS.
Completely forgot that it's possible to get her before NG+.
Now to be fair, he's the worst rare blade, but as he's still plenty useful early on due to easily outscaling the common blades at the time. He's hardly a detriment, just not as good as other rares, which will come in time.
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/lb_i.php?lb_id=13239183440B34964700 Alfric's Fire Emblem Liveblog Encyclopedia! No Blade is bad and all Blades can be used to fight anything in the game. It's just Godfrey is the worst of all of them.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."I'm going to laugh a lot if elma ends up being an unrelated Names The Same with no connections to X.
"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."I would still call him a Tier Induced Scrappy rather than a Clutch Character though. His battle skills contradict themselves, and his Field Skills are only helpful for his Merc Missions and quest.
Is Godfrey considered the worst Rare Blade? I know he's near the bottom of most tier lists, but I was under the impression he had some competition with Azami and some others for that coveted spot.
I admittedly haven't been checking up with the Rare Blade tier lists since, you know, this is a singleplayer game and not a competitive sport where it'd actually matter.
They don't contradict themselves. His setup is designed to be an emergency brake for when you fall low on health, buffing your stats and regenerating your health until you're back up out of the danger zone. It's a niche use, but it's not a contradiction, and he's not designed to be used as a deliberate low-health build.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Godfrey isn't even a Crutch Character. He's a Joke Character turned Up To Eleven. His field skills are all useless when it comes to mandatory merc mission requirements in addition to never being used outside his quest, his battle skills contradict each other as said before (don't give me that fallback excuse; why have a skill that negates the other?) as well as encouraging playing poorly (no proper tank should rely on being low on health), he's of one of the worst weapon types in the game, and his damage output is mediocre. Not to mention that he's the most common blade in the game bar none, which further decreases his value. At least the likes of Azami has proper field skills and her battle skills don't screw with each other.

Azami isn't great, but she's just the worst Ether Cannon user, and she's crap with the same weapon types of some very good Blades. (Particularly KOS-MOS and Herald). She's also got a very niche playstyle.
Shield Hammers in general are pretty shit (Except Electra, Kassandra. Poppibuster and if we're being technical Shulk), and Godfrey is the worst Shield Hammer besides from some commons.
edited 21st Jun '18 2:37:14 PM by ReynTime250
Isn't Shulk basically a Shield Hammer that's tagged as being an Attacker class?
I'm back from 70 hours with Hollow Knight.
Dickson showed up with an armory of Anti-Mechon weapons and they'll all terrible.
Anti-Mechon weapons have low stats to compensate for their ability to do full damage to Mechon without Enchant.
From this point on, any weapon that says "Anti-Mechon", "Mechonis", or anything to that effect in its name is an anti-mechon weapon.
If you want anti-mechon weapons with 3 gem slots, well, you can only get them as rare drops from unique monsters.

Those anti-mechon weapons are going to be important for the next few levels.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! Can I just use my regular equipment as long as I have Shulk on hand to cast Enchant?
Melia's spells bypass Mechon damage too right? It might be too risky running only DPS characters in this dungeon since everything is high level.
You can use Enchant, but you really want to keep some type of anti-mechon weapon on hand.
Especially when you deal with things like Mechon that you need to spam Purge against.
Ether attacks (like almost all of Melia's arts) do half damage to Mechon without Enchant or an anti-mechon weapon. So Riki wants the weapon, Sharla probably wants the weapon, and Melia is better off with a weapon that has 3 gems slots.
On that note, if you didn't get it already, if you go back and talk to Melia's brother he'll give you her dad's staff, which is a 3 gem slot weapon.
Alright, I guess I'll buy one for Riki and run Shulk/Riki/Melia.
Also my inventory has filled up so can I sell materials? I'm probably not going to develop Colony 6.

Just be warned that there will be a section coming up in which the party gets separated.
There will be more stores that sell anti-mechon stuff soon after that though, and enemies who can drop anti-mechon stuff.
Just sell the cheapest stuff that doesn't have any explanation point next to it. Sort by price.

I'll be fine as long as I don't have to play as Sharla.
You get split into smaller groups. One is just Sharla + Reyn. Doesn't last very long.
At this point I've got every Rare Blade in the game, so... I don't actually have much reason to summon or release Blades.
Glad to hear we're still getting more, though. I was confused as to why the two Rare Blade silhouettes behind Poppibuster didn't actually look much like Shulk or Fiora.
