Well, they showed a popular character followed by the main character. The popular character himself ties into the theme of Darkstalkers not being dead. It was a very good teaser, and really its good to remember that Darkstalkers isn't just the Morrigan and Felicia show.

Funny, I was okay with Demitri, just never cared for him as a main character compared to Morrigan or Donovan (who was either the main character or the biggest screen-hogger of the Night Warriors OVA). What has Demitri done anyway? Morrigan has reclaimed the throne held by her father, met her long-lost twin sister and redefined what a succubus can do. Demitri has... I dunno. Sat on his throne a lot. And yet he's still the one that gets to kill Pyron.
Demitri should just be the Big Bad.

Also, it doesn't seem like we'll be getting the extra characters from Night Warriors into Darkstalkers 3. That sucks.

Yes. Demitri is technically the main character. The stories have always been sparse enough that, really, that didn't matter. Really, he's the guy that would be the Big Bad if there weren't Bigger Bads to take down.
The character that received the most popularity, and subsequently the most focus in later games, was Morrigan. She was always one of the focus characters, but she became even moreso with each installation.
Really, they're both the main characters of Darkstalkers and, humorously enough, they're mortal enemies.

It's probably a case of Capcom's new "WESTERN MARKETS ARE DA FUTURE!" policy being really stupid again.
A good writer puts in a lot of details in there story. But a great one gets a story from a single detail.
Seriously, Capcom really thinks that the West is the only profitable market now. Why else do you think that they keep letting no-name Western developers handle their franchises?
