This is the earliest version of this trope I can find on the Wayback Machine. It may be helpful in understanding the intent behind this trope and guide any rewriting.

No matter how good he is at martial arts, his girlfriend can slap him silly. Or pound him with a Hyperspace Mallet. Or thwack him with a bamboo practice sword.

But only if she thinks he really deserves it. Even if he doesn't (from Accidental Pervert to being assaulted by another girl) See also the Megaton Punch.

How narrow is this? The description implies it's specifically about girls slapping guys over sexuality-related things, yet the Batman Begins example has nothing to do with sex.

[up][up][up] That would be Mundangerous, where the Laconic is something akin to "the most powerful BAM Fs get decked by an uppercut"

"See Armor Piercing Slap and Megaton Punch for specific mundangerous techniques"

So yeah, this is a subtrope of mundangerous.

Oh, and the laconic is "The most powerful warrior can be laid low by a papercut."

Is anything going to be done about this? People were complaining about too many open threads over in Wiki Talk. Let's be part of the solution and make something happen here. Personally, I have no opinion because I don't care about this trope. Someone who does care, please speak up and let's get this closed.

The description needs some work. One quick and brutal way to fix it would be to just outright delete the last three paragraphs, possibly replacing it with something like, "For whatever reason, he doesn't defend himself." That's basically what all that text boils down to anyway.

Maybe also mention that it's usually but not always Played for Laughs.

The Different for Girls link needs to be removed, too, since that's not what that trope is about.

I find this trope a bit confusing but nonetheless, maybe this is the solution. You mentioned wanting to get rid of the "Different For Girls" part, so maybe we could slim down the last three paragraphs into just this and then combine it with the previous paragraph:

Why is the guy so powerless? Because he Wouldn't Hit a Girl. So the slap effectively pierces his armor.

I'm not fond of the way this trope is written on the whole, actually. The description is very specific and throws up hypotheticals too much. And I actually came to request that a Double Standard notification be added to the explanation but, just so we're clear, it's NOT an "Always Female" trope?

I agree that this has nothing to do with Different for Girls (except in a few rare cases involving crossdressers), so those links should probably be changed to Double Standard, or something.

This is, overwhelmingly, an Always Female trope; as far as I have seen, guy-on-guy AP Ss are limited largely to Boys' Love (or "not officially BL but we're gonna stick in as much Ship Tease as the page can hold" stuff), with the same implications/setup but with "girl" replaced by "uke".

The description could use a cleanup; I kinda like post 24's suggestion, which cuts down on the Example as a Thesis.

The other thing is that this gets a ton of misuse for Pervert Revenge Mode, and could really use a wick cleanup. A cleaner description might help.

Different for Girls is about crossdressing, not gender double standards? Sounds like a candidate for a wick check to see how much misuse there is.

Bump. Anyone object to tweaking the description as proposed above?

wow, has this thread really been around for a year now? Anyway, I support the proposed edit to the definition of the trope in post 24.
