Spider-Girl's utter sexism would be funnier if Spidey and team had engaged in major sexist attitudes/comments. This came across as one of those old-school 'boys and girls go camping boys-brag girls-better things', only dumber.

Also, do you think Spider-Girl here is just a gender-flip verse for simplicity or is showing any result of Peter/MJ just verboten?

[up] Pretty sure it's gender-flip since there's also a female J. Jonah Jameson and female Norman Osborn/Green Goblin. tongue

Sorry - I meant to ask the possible reason why its a simple gender-flip, on the writers' part - whether it was to avoid a complicated explanation for Mayday Parker, or because of the legendary dislike for the Peter/MJ Marriage by the top staff at Marvel.

They could have used another Spider-Girl or even a Spider-Women instead.

[up][up]To go with the whole Alt-Peter thing—I think the only Spider-Man confirmed to not be a version of Parker is Miles, who has the excuse of being one of the more popular Spider-Men at the time.

I wonder if Norman is too intertwined with Gobby for Gobby to be considered a Complete Monster or not. While it was pretty much in character for him to do so, there's something strangely horrifying about the fact that Gobby was willing to harm his own son if it meant harming Spider-Man. Makes me wonder if this is the most evil cartoon version of Goblin or not.

How are we defining "evil" here, because I think Spectacular's Norman was worse.

[up] I guess I'm just bothered by the fact that this Goblin has no problems hurting his own loved ones (and he does actually care for his own son) if it furthers his own goals. I know this Gobby hasn't gone around trying to kill everyone, but he seems more like a personal type of evil to me than Spectacular. They're both pretty awful though. Doesn't help that this version of Harry is the nicest one I've seen so far.

If it weren't for the fact that purple dude from Monsters Vs. Aliens was in the Complete Monster list, I would argue that one line from Spider-Verse would have completely (no pun intended) killed this Goblin's chance of being one. ("NO! I've come so far! I have to win!")

In other news: Ant-Man, burritos, Inhumans. Those three things have something in common for what's going to happen this month.

Personally, I wish they'd just kill off Mesmero. He's borderline useless.

I like the Continuity Nod they made to when Spidey teamed up with Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. when they took on The Collector in that show.

[up]Which raises more question about that show's place within this verse.

Watching his first appearance now, do we ever get a follow-up on Vulture, other than the Thunderbolts?

Bad news for those who dislike the show, USM has been renewed for a 4th season, and Avengers Assemble is getting a 3rd season.

I would complain, but frankly I have stopped caring at this point. It's been a while since I stopped watching the show, and aside from providing me something to laugh at in reviews, it no longer is my concern.

It has it's moments.

I still think it could be better, but I think it's the best it could be. If nothing else, Marvel has got a nice connected animated universe going.

Caught the entire Grandmaster arc online. Aunt May knows Peter is Spiderman. That's pretty cool.

[up]Honestly looking back, I have to admit there WERE moments who were nice in some episodes. It's just that compared to the previous Spider-Man animated series, the show feels really weak, and its humor is grating. But still, I got to aknowledge I DID like some parts, like Aya's moments in Kraven the Hunter, their version of the Sandman, and their AMAZINGLY creepy Dr Octopus. Even the Goblin was actually decent before they started making him overly hammy. And even things that I didn't like back then were actually not that bad. Harry Osborn as Venom was an interesting twist in the end (after all it's not like he ever did much as Green Goblin II... not taking the recent movie in account obviously)

And yes, it's nice Marvel is trying to make an animated Shared Universe... too bad they are incredibly bad at making a good continuity with it. A lot of things don't match.

[up] To be fair, it's extremely difficult to keep a completely consistent shared universe with creative freedom.

The Transformers Aligned Universe is a big example of this.

[up][up]It didn't cause problem to DC. Nor did it with Marvel in their movies... I mean, seriously, would it REALLY kill their creativity to at least explain WHERE Agents of SMASH fits compared to Avengers Assemble for exemple?

[up] On several occasions we're told that several of the events that occurred in SMASH happened BEFORE some of the events in USM Season 3 and AA Season 2. (Spider-Man is aware of the Collector's ship, Hulk mentions fighting the Wendigo King, same thing with Red mentioning killing Ymir in SMASH.) Some of it takes place concurrently with the other shows.

Maybe this will help: http://www.thecomicboard.com/forum/showthread.php?14197-Marvel-Animated-Universe-Timeline

It took a lot of research for me to make that.

As for the Hulk's personality change, Wacker confirmed on tumblr that he switches personalities between changing teams.
