A British buddy of mine sent me a photo on Facebook today, saying he shipped a few things extra in addition of two sets of Ghostbusters ecto-goggles lens tubes. Those "few things extra" are enough to kit up the British power rig if I get around to building one.

Finally got a bit of time to pursue my own projects. Made 3 new things, all quite simple but I rather like how they turned out.

This set is my attempt to re-purpose one old and ugly necklace I've got as a kid and never worn since I was ten. I rather like the result - the set I've made is wearable and beachy

Then there is this brightly-colored set, just because I liked how the previous one turned out

And lastly, this beachy wrap bracelet with fluorite and sterling silver button

I finally bought paint and done the Veil Medallion. Now the last bit, rigging the lightshow.

The screws actually hold the two halves together so I can do the wiring a little more easily.

[up][up] Is there a certain material you would like to work with and just haven't had the chance to?

[up] That is awesome! I am so excited to see your full ensemble! You have amazing attention to detail!

Yes, there are plenty of mediums I would like to use but just don't have the skills/equipment to get to just yet. Proper leather is one - not the leather cord. Proper metalwork. I would also want to do more with textiles, some loom-woven textile bracelet that also incorporates beads, or emprodied bracelet on leather or metallic frame...

That is not what it looks like :)

But yes, I do wish to learn to make more interesting things with wire.

Gab, slow down. That is not as much of attention to detail as creative work off an existing example. I'm basing my work on the concept art and the notes that accompanied it more than on the in-game model.

I also have received the resin casts of Ghostbusters' ecto goggles, and so I'm ready to build a pair of XCOM laser goggles and the Electric Nazi eyepiece.

Goggles. One pair does nothing, other one will do something unusual.

I also made a list of recently ordered Noodle Implements:

  • Flip-up welding goggles
  • Red transparent acrylic sheet
  • Dark grey transparent acrylic sheet
  • Horizontal CR 2032 battery holder
  • Two 4 1/2" sphere acrylic Christmas tree ornaments
  • Two 2 1/2" sphere acrylic Christmas tree ornaments
  • Metal welding goggles
  • East German service uniform old style jacket with high collar
  • British leather cavalry bandolier
  • Two EFX Hydra lapel pins
  • Two 7/8" Hydra lapel pins
  • German Wound Badge, silver
  • SS collar tab rank pips
  • Belt loop with dagger snap hook
  • East German medal ribbon bar

Pretty much everything but the flip-up goggles and the bandolier will be used for some project related to one of the German uniforms - either the Electric Nazi, or the Occult Nazi, or the Adeptus Arbites/Imperial jailer.

Your project has inspired a project for me.

Thanks!

Oh, do tell me more! That sounds particularly interesting!

...that, and don't buy SS uniform copies from AliExpress unless you're prepared to pay through the nose for the custom jobs. The cheaper ones have totally messed up sizes, particularly when it comes to the trousers.

I am a painter. My son is getting into aircraft and monsters, then looking at your goggles made me think of biplanes and tanks, so i am thinking I will do a series on an alien invasion during WWII or a science fiction interpretation of it.

The first image in my head was a fighter pilot having to maneuver around enemy fighters, or a top gun like stunt with an alien ship looking down on a human plane.

[up] *fangirling*

I asked for pricing of a set of patches for the Scribe outfit. $60 for the lot if we're talking an one-off job, but they get progressively cheaper with bigger batches. I couldn't afford the bigger batch, though, and I can't see how could I offload them.

Also, I found suppliers of repro Wehrmacht shoulder boards on Ebay. They're at least twice as expensive as NVA ones, but the Third Reich artillery waffenfarbe (troop color) is nice vibrant red, as opposed to East German light maroon.

Could you recover or somehow update the coloring?

Seriously dude. We can canvas you up. wink

The patch company doesn't have maroon-colored felt on offer, and vibrant red looks significantly cooler. That and when it comes to shoulder boards, we're talking $6 or thereabouts (six euros) per pair of East German ones compared to $22 or thereabouts (15 GBP) per pair of repro Third Reich ones.

I'll have to grab a couple of other things from the East German uniform shop anyway, rank pips and a collar liner to be more exact, but I'm a wee bit short on funds right now, so all that has to wait.

That, and the Wound Badge for the Electric Nazi variant arrived today, along with a belt clip I need for the Imperial jailer uniform.

I have tried my hand on painting recently, attended a short drawing course. I still don't know how the live model tolerates our weirdness :)

You do it enough and it just becomes a zoning out issue. I used to model for sculptures and that's even more tedious because you have to be casted as well as holding still for a while. But it's not bad. It's a fun job and easy to do for the most part. I was lucky that every administrator of the classes I posed for kept it professional and appropriate.
