[up] That reminds me of how "It's the Night Again" is pretty much the only thing distinguishing He Knows You're Alone. That song will not leave my head.

He Knows You're Alone was so unremarkable that I didn't realize that Tom Hanks was in it until it was pointed out to me. And the ending was silly.

[up] Unfortunately, Phantom Brother didn't produce any future big stars. Maybe some people with enough credits to get a page on iMDB, but that's it.

Now, onto a questions that's been bugging me for a while:after A Nightmare on Elm Street, several dream-killing slashers such as Dreamaniac and Deadly Dreams, but besides that, I don't know any more, even though several have said that more than just that tried in vain to steal Freddy's throne.

So, nay more dream-killing slasher films?

[up] Don't Panic, maybe. I can't remember all the details of reviews I've read.

Halloween 3D rumors have started up again, and I think the Wolf Creek prequel novels are out now.

[up] I also just remembered 1988's Bad Dreams.

Also, I've managed to create a military-threat level slasher in response to Dr Tentacles' post in the Slashers vs US Army thread:

So, request for the militropers (who have likely abandoned this thread, but hell.)

Make a slasher that could pose a credible threat to the army. Not the whole army-let's say a base or something gets cut off for a night or so. Let's make it an Army base, so we don't have to worry *quite* as much about planes (but if you want to make it a different type of base, go ahead.)

Only other restriction is that it can't be "ghost" level of "only the author can save you now." We want credible threat-level, without a curb-stomp on either side.

Why not a slasher that can regenerate? To elaborate:he's a sort of demon that, in one of my movie ideas, gets gutted through with his own large knife, strangled, gets his neck snapped, electrocuted, and finally is decapitated with a baseball bat. However, as the Final Girl is escaping, the killer looks out at her through the window.

With his regeneration, the killer can keep on going even as the Army soldiers pump him full of automatic fire. Of course, it will take him some time to come back from a direct hit by a M830 from a M 1 A 2 Abrams.

Watched Captivity with my wife. I don't recommend it. The tropes page is funny because the people who wrote the page shoe-horned every possible "Genre Killer", "Career Killer", and "Creator Killer" that they could. Evidently, they were even less fans of the movie...

[up] Thought it (which I don't really regard as a slasher film) started out okay, then rapidly went down hill. Was surprised to learn it was written by Larry Cohen, and that the head of the opposition to the ad campaign was Joss Whedon.

The first trailer for Joyride 3: Roadkill.

[up] So Rusty Nail goes from a guy who tortured people's minds (and bodies) in order to get back for a sick joke played on him, to some dude who murders people on the road just because they're street racing? That has got to be the quickest Motive Decay I've seen in movies so far.

I'm sure they committed some slight, possibly very small.

Wonder how many sequels they'll wring out. The original didn't really need any, especially genre switching (thriller to slasher) ones.

Anyway, the next Maniac Cop seemingly has a director attached, and there's a Don't Look in the Basement 2 coming out, something which probably no one expected.

Double anyway, I haven't watched anything new in a while, despite all the purchases I keep mentioning.

[up] Any link to that Maniac Cop news? I searched Google for Maniac Cop 4 director and got nothing new.

It's looks to be Ed Brubaker.

The Sleepaway Camp Blu-ray sure looks nice. And the movie is as delightfully trashy as ever.

The best death must be the beehive through the window. Best makeup was the drowning victim though. The snake slithering out of his face is an awesome touch.

Aunt Martha is by far the scariest character in the movie.

I picked up The Final Terror.

It falls under, "Boy, that sure was a movie" territory. It's...there, but it wasn't really very interesting.

Also bought Wolf Creek 2, which I'm not sure I'd categorize as a slasher or not. Same with the first, though I found this one much better. Bloodier and Gorier, for sure...that opening sequence was a delight.

Still need to get The Final Terror, as well as several other Scream Factory releases.

Started cataloging my horror DVDs.

Edit: Holy crap, Hysteria Lives! updated last month.

[up] I'm never going to stop dissing Joseph Henson if The Night Before Easter isn't better than My Bloody Valentine 3D. Not that he would know I am. Just sayin'. And I guess I could find out if it is now, but I'm not really interested in doing so.

And the "we didn't have the money" excuse irks me sometimes. I can understand it on occasion, but Blood Runs Cold was a perfectly good-looking slasher made for less than $10K. Almost Human was pretty good and still had a pretty paltry budget, somewhere between $50K-90K if I remember correctly.

I appreciate and respect psychological fear more than slasher. In my old age, I guess that I've become desensitized.

[up] Well, they already showed him on that poster, but then there is the earlier teaser image. So either this rebooted Leprechaun is going to look like a constipated Hornswoggle, or he's gonna look like a constipated midget Baraka.

M'kay, so, finished watching 1986's Trick Or Treat. Sammi Curr seemed like a rather sadistic version of the punny Freddy Krueger, until he was temporarily stopped by getting his arm caught in a toilet (seriously, was there no other way to show Sammi's weakness to water?). Eddie thinking he can stop Sammi by destroying all the radios also didn't make sense, since Sammi could just go out of town, and why can't Sammi use some other technology (like phones or T Vs) to travel around. It also has no gore (which is disappointing for gorehounds, obviously) but plenty of lights FX and good effects for Sammi's powers and his green gargoyle form. If you're a metalhead, though, the movie is a real treat for its references (just be prepared to have a heart attack when Eddie tears down all of his metal posters when Sammi dies).
