Does anybody else remember when cosplay pictures always had either men or rather dumpy women trying to dress up as beautiful and Stripperiffic girls?

Yeah. Different times.

I'm more inclined to think that, when Cosplay was smaller and less accepted, people tended to post photos of only ugly cosplayers to mock the phenomenon. I've seen cosplayers for over a decade and the ratio of ugly, "regular", and beautiful people has always been more or less the same.

I remember a news post showcasing some of the best Japanese cosplayers and the worst Western cosplayers. In hindsight, I want to punch the writer in the face.

I hang out with fellow cosplayers about 3-4 times a month so I've been more empathetic towards So Okay, It's Average cosplayers recently. Cosplay should be about having fun dressing like your favorite characters, not being judged by elitists and assholes who don't even cosplay anyway.

Um... us people who don't cosplay aren't "elitists". All we see is someone in a costume, and basically we can either say "that looks good" or "that doesn't look good".

I will say that Team Fortress 2 cosplay must be easier nowadays thanks to the numerous hats in the game. tongue

@Tsunde Ray - I have a sinking feeling that might have been Sankaku...

I've only seen some cosplays in the flesh, and they're usually rather good. I've been thinking of using scrap material to build armor suits, but I'm bad at costuming.

Was Jack Mackerel. | i rite gud

I'm putting together a Merchant one - think it'd be easier to just use Ebay instead of going to second hand shops and the Salvation Army?

I still want to cosplay the Demi-Fiend or Raidou from Shin Megami Tensei.

Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft instead

I'd like to go to the next Ohayocon as a Dragon Age II Saarebas. I'm a little short (and chubby) for it, really, but meh.

I'm planning to get a day for Comic-Con this year now that I live so close to it, so I'm hoping to get back into the scene proper with something new. I still got Tactics!Time mage, Lucca, and Tonberry in the trunk should that plan fail.
