Other mediums don't use sound effects the same way. Interactive media play sound effects on specific triggers that can be repeated through gameplay.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Dear god, that page is in need of dire cleanup.
Also, what troacctid said. While there might be incredibly annoying sounds in TV shows, movies and the like, they pop up whenever the script calls for them and only then, whereas video games tend to abuse sounds as part of repeated triggers, causing this trope. If someone is simply watching a show, it's not as annoying as when they're in the middle of doing something critical in a game with a fairy hovering in their ear yelling at them.
"Thorough preparation must lead to success. Neglect nothing."If anything, I wish people wouldn't just quote the annoying sound without saying what game it's from, and not giving any context to when you hear it or why it's annoying. I'm in a good mind to delete every unexplained quote on this page. Anyone who wants to put it back can place it in proper context.
...Because Jeb Bush is all in my house with disease.^ Go ahead. A completely unexplained example is a poor example. There's a reason we have X Just X as something to be avoided. Just leave an edit reason along the lines of "removed examples that were simply the noise with no explanation" or something like that. If you feel really generous, move them to the discussion page and leave a note saying that if someone wants to restore it, they need to identify the game it's from (not in a pothole) and say when the sound shows up. or what it signifies.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Yup. The same problem as it was with Say My Name, Memetic Mutation and Big Word Shout articles before.
I always thought this trope was reduced to only video game and toy examples because the troper who edited this page to remove the other examples thought that those examples related to a certain other trope.
People, Most Annoying Sound =/= The Scrappy, yeah, this is definetly Trope Decay.....

Whilst examples are being cleaned up, the folder system is mad. You've got a Games folder, a couple of game genre folders (not inside the games folder) and toy folder between the games folder and the genres and an Other folder which has examples of games in genres that folders haven't been created for. What should it look like?
EDIT: Also the description probably needs to be altered to show that the extra-annoyance comes from the triggers of the interactive medium and would we need some YMMV trope that just covers the use of really annoying sounds in films and movies? Because "Hell is that noise" doesn't cover it either. Or maybe the problem is stemming from a slightly misleading name? The focus of the name is on the noise, whereas the trope seems to suggest the focus should be on the frequency or situation of use.

The other medium examples got removed because the page decayed into complaining about sounds you don't like and turned flame baity. Looks like it happened again.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Ideally, it would be the various "Game Genre" folders, followed by an "Other Games" folder for games that don't fit into one of the Game Genre folders, then "Toys". And that would be all.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Maybe a rename and a slight modification of definition should help? The core of this trope really does seem to be about sounds in video games that nag you to do something which is why they're so annoying. Maybe Nag Sound?
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickSupport.
(Double post due to time elapsed.)
That's close to Critical Annoyance.
They aren't just sounds that nag you to do something, though. As far as I can tell a number of them in the Adventure Game section are simply noises (or music) that play a lot whenever a particular character or type of character is around, or they're sounds that play when you or another character dies, in games that you die a lot in.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.
Well, why is it?
