I've just realised that the narrator is Barry Dennem, AKA Uldred, AKA Master Li The Glorious Strategist AKA The Vizier from Sands Of Time AKA, one classy villainous Voice actor.
No way he's not evil.

Huh, why are Obsidian hate or love developer?
My only problems with Obsidian so far are the fact that, which I see in even in Black Isle games with developers who are now in Obsidian, is that their games seem to have ton of cut content which would have made the game even more awesome and that I love/hate Chris Avellone because he is good writer, but his personal opinions on few writing things annoy me too much even though they are somewhat minor.
This is the best way to describe Obsidian: It's Bioware run by Peter Molyneux.
Jonah Falcono-o They make promises that are so impossible to do that everyone gets disappointed?
Of course, in my perception of Obsidian might be a lot to do with the fact that I connect them to Black Isle, and I loved Black isle's games... I haven't actually played any of Obsidian's games, but I did read LP of Star Wars one... Writing did seem great, but cut content really hurt the game it seems.
I'm honestly not seeing it.
What about Avellone's work is particularly irksim?

This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Well, Peter generates a lot of hype and makes promises he cannot keep. Obsidian is kinda the same way in that their ambitions are sometimes greater than what they can achieve within their time/budget/engineering restraints. It doesn't help that their engineering and programming side just plain sucks.
Let's just say Obsidian takes whatever Bioware does and tries to make them even more complex and involved, and basically goes over schedule constantly.
Jonah Falcon1) He apparently hates ideas of talking animals.
Okay, to explain what THAT means... On Fallout... Well, let's just take this from Fallout wiki because I suck in explaining ^^; Sorry:
"The Fallout Bible is mixed as to whether Xarn and Goris could reproduce and save the intelligent deathclaw breed. In a March 11th, 2002 update, John Deiley (the creator and designer of much of the talking Deathclaw content) wrote:
In any case, there is a chance that two intelligent deathclaws survived to continue on the species. I realize that they are both males, but that is fine. When they were engineered by the Enclave, the intelligence gene was made male specific and dominant. What this means is: Any intelligent male that mated with a non-intelligent female would (most likely) produce intelligent offspring.
However, in a later, July 10th, 2002 update of the Fallout Bible, Chris Avellone denied that the intelligent deathclaws lived, writing:
BTW, the talking deathclaws were destroyed at the end of Fallout 2. Xarn and Goris did not go on to create a new species. They are gone. Kaput. Goodbye. In fact, any mutant animal that talks can safely be assumed to have died at the end at the exact minute that Fallout 2 was over.
Any last words, talking animals? I thought not."
So yeah, I happen to like Goris most =P Hes my favorite companion xD Since none of companions in first two fallout are developed much, hes my favorite for being Black colored deathclaw xD To be honest, I wouldn't mind talking deathclaws going extinct since it would probably be creepy to breed through non sentient ones, but I really hate it that he had to write out possibility of it from Fallout Bibble out right. Also, his attitude about it =P
2) Hes apparently unable to write "traditional" romance without having it being tragic or... Well, you know that already. I could understand it if hes just bad at romance, but since the first point has made me annoyed with his personality, my mind assumes that hes one of "romance is silly, so I'll spit on it" people. Again, this one doesn't really have basis except feeling I got from interviews.
3) From LP of Star Wars game, he seems to complain about his opinions through character too much. I wouldn't mind it if my mental image from his interviews wouldn't have gave me image that he is a spiteful person. Really, I believe in "To do good parody, you must love the original" thing, though he doesn't really do parodies though. Anyway, I like deconstructing(sp?) stuff I like, but that doesn't seem to be the case with him. Again, it might be just that interviews I saw in that LP made me think of him as spiteful.
So yeah, hes a great writer and all those three points come from his interviews =P Point 1 is Word of God thing so you wouldn't know that from the game, the second point you would be unaware of just from playing the game, after all you could just assume that Obsidian doesn't do romances and third one also is possible to not notice, in that case you could just assume it as writing without any hidden meanings. He just irks me as person.

Eeeeh, yeah, but Lionhead just makes a lot of shallow, entertaining fluff, and has difficulty marrying its central mechanics with both gameplay and story. Fable, for instance, attempts to offer a lot in the way of reality and character development in what is ultimately a cookie cutter fairy-tale world played roughly straight that features an economy that runs on phelbontinum. The two aren't really soulmates.
Obisidian usually manages to carry through with their concepts, for the most part, though they stumble at the dismount due to time and lack of polish. They're not really that much like Bioware either, outside of specialising in RP Gs. Obsidian's seem to be based around interesting ideological and philosophical concepts, feature a great deal of choice-making mechanics and suffers a little from Viewers Are Geniuses, while Bioware's focus seems to increasingly be on its side characters and universes.
Avellone (and a lot of people at Obsidian) tend to write anti-romances (for lack of a better term), because I gather that most people over there don't really like those side-quests in RP Gs. And they've got a point: it is slightly creepy.

This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.1. It's Lionhead.
2. YMMV on "fluff". Fable III was anything but fluff. Neither is Dungeon Keeper.
Jonah FalconWhoops! Fixed it.
I've not heard of Dungeon Keeper, but Fable 3 was quite fluffy. Even the dark stuff was fairly fluffy. The Crawler was classic Saturday morning cartoon fare, until the end.

Videogames do not make you a worse person... Than you already are.Fluffy? Huh? From the start the game is Darker and Edgier.
Jonah FalconYou know the usual reasons to hate Obsidian aren't really present in this one. Squenix seems to be giving them tonnes of leeway, as opposed to the usual publishers that breathe down their necks. The game runs on their own engine so they aren't just working with someone else's thing (meaning the usual accusations of expansion pack sequel are moot) and they also don't have the issue that New Vegas had where they were working with an already incredibly unstable and glitchy as hell engine. And hell, the game just got delayed (presumably to avoid having to compete with Brink, LA Noire and most importantly T Witcher 2) so there shouldn't be much in the way of a Cosmic Deadline either.
So when's the Uwe Boll movie?
@Nick: Like I said, I don't really dislike the notion that romance quests in RPG are bad and creepy, but rather the attitude of person on multiple things.
Besides, he thinks that talking lizards are too ridiculous while species of mutants named super mutants who resemble the Hulk and whose most members talk like him AREN'T funny?

Eh. The lizard thing bugs me too. Talking Deathclaws would have been awesome, in limited appearances.

http://steamcommunity.com/id/Xan-Xan/I meant beyond that.;P
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.@Spooky: yeah Avellone generally conveys a lot of aspects he hates within games but thanks to that we have awesome villains like Kreia in Kotor2 or some interesting death based mechanics in PS:T (Which I am still going through, sadly a bug appears to have screwed up my progress completely) or a really interesting dialogue mechanic in Alpha Protocol (I particularly love how you have to gather info on the people you talk and read their dossiers to understand what they like and don't like- and then decide whether or not you want to piss them off. It's sad that AP was panned so badly and didn't sell well because I'd have loved to see those dialogue mechanics picked up by other rpgs)
In the case of talking deathclaws...well frankly after learning to fear them and to stay the hell away from the Quarry Junction in New Vegas I think meeting talking deathclaws would just be silly and kinda narmy.
Not the best quality vid but it's probably the only one I could find that gives a clear enough idea of what combat will look like and loot and stuff. Gotta say, even with the bad vid quality the loot and environments and armours look pretty awesome (also holy crap a dialogue wheel that actually has Lucas say something close to the paraphrase)
