I am surprised. Because I thought that every fan would be able to remember that the goddamn hero of the series was Chinese. Clearly I overestimated some of them.

Reiko and Hotaru's parents must have been even bigger assholes than those two.

Hotaru means Firefly and naming your kid fire fly does not sound too bad

I am. In addition to Clothing Damage I wish they would have done the visible area around his eyes differently.

I've started to practice with Jade. I'm not especially fond of the character (don't dislike her either), but I like her staff and the moves it makes possible. Pole pain!

On the asian names thing, since I think a good deal of Badwolf's snark was directed at me there, Its not the fact that there are asian names in Mortal Kombat. As you said, the main hero is Chinese after all. No, what irks me is how during the PS 2 era, a good two thirds of all the new characters had vaguely asian sounding names, and it made those games seem like a parade of generic asian people. Another thing is that most of those new characters aren't even from earth, let alone China. In the early MK's there were also characters with asian names, but it was balanced out by all the characters with American names, badass code names, and completely made up names. Like I said, it made MK seem like a franchise full of generic Kung Fu fighters, not the rich colourful cast that MK was known for.

And the asian overload also gave us Hsu Hao. Prosecution rests.

EDIT: Though, Fan Dumb saying that MK hadn't shown any asian influences before DA is worthy of an epic Face Palm.

It honestly wasn't toward you in particular, just the fandom in general.

But since you brought it up, let's check the names, shall we?

MK: Liu Kang, Raiden, Shang Tsung (Scorpion and Sub-Zero were revealed to have Asian names later, but since they're ninjas it's not exactly unexpected.)

They did make character-specific songs for the new game, but no singing I'm afraid, and the songs aren't in the game itself so I take it they're hawking a soundtrack somewhere. They're pretty good.

However, the game's actual soundtrack is pretty mediocre, I must say. :(

both Onaga and Kai don't sound asian to me I know a guy named Kai and he does not even have any asian ansestors

and Onaga just sounds like an evil over Lord name also Asterah does not sound Asian

So no gems as Freezing Vibration, Lost Soul, Eternal Life or this? :(

Soundtrack is hit or miss. For the most part though the new songs aren't very memorable. Best are shang tsung's throne room, the armory, the courtyard, and the soul chamber. The rest are forgettable at most. However, you can choose the classic tunes for some stages, which is a nice bonus and sort of makes up for it a little at least.

Yeah. I wish Goro's Lair had a remix of its classic theme. I barely register the music when I'm playing this game.

Really? I thought the soundtrack was good. Nice remixes of the classic trilogy tunes. Personally, I liked The Subway, The Cathedral, The Courtyard, and The Evil Monastery the best.

However, I was a bit disappointed that Reptile's Theme by Skrillex wasn't actually part of the OST.

Meh. I kinda like Living Forest, but thats probably because I use it as the practice stage a lot.

Also, some rumors about DLC I've caught wind of. Besides the leaked Fujin (no pun intended), as well as Rain, Tanya, Cyber-Smoke, and Shinnok (all mentioned by Boon on his Twitter and included in a poll for who fans wanted to see next as DLC), I've heard word of the possibility of Frost (yay!) and Mavado (... meh; as long as Hsu Hao doesn't come back with him and Kabal gets to kill Mavado again, no qualms). Still no word on Sareena. My inner fanboy/shipper is crying a bit.
