If it demonstrates the trope, it's all good. Or in this case, if it illustrates the series. If you know the source, we'd ideally email them for permission and link to them once it's up, but if we don't it can just go up.
Reaction Image RepositoryWell in that case, the question is, what style of image do we want?
If we want an image that is cryptic and Nothing Is Scarier that goes along with the series feel but not explain much, I'll go for the Slendy-In-A-Tunnel (though still say we should crop it a bit to lose the excess black space).
If we want something that is more clear and summarizes the series but isn't as creepy/cryptic, I'll go for the poster.
uh, stupid question from me, but when from the series did the Tunnel Slendy pic show up? I don't remember it.
Welcome to the... Danger Zone.Entry 29.
wat chin g you
Been coughing recently?Got any opinions for the page image Mr. Slim?
Maybe something from entry 7 or 17.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Someone earlier in the thread mentioned the Operator symbol. I honestly think that's the best bet, since there'll be no debates over whether the picture is "scary enough" or "appropriate enough".
I do love that poster though, not gonna lie, and I also have no problem with the current slendertunnel image. I just think a picture of the Operator symbol would be the simplest and easiest way to eliminate debate.
Thinking over it again, I think it looks good enough. The placement and the size are both good and it gives a fair sense of the series' feel. I'd say keep it.
How about this one from the most recent episode?

The quality is pretty bad on that. The Operator's Symbol or the current are both fine.
Of COURSE the quality is bad. Slenderman causes camera distortion, which is a very integral part of the series. It is representative of that fact and also shows the clearest picture of our antagonist.
How about we use a picture from Entry 14 with the caption along the lines of: "He knows when you're asleep..."?
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I like the picture that's on the page currently. It gives a great impression of the show and features the main "villain".
Current project: Cleaning up the Chrono Crusade examples one at a time. God help me.I think that the poster is a pretty good example. It'd be fitting, if we can post it. It shows a good part of the cast, and gives you enough material to wonder and want to read into it/watch the series (which is what I usually do with TV Tropes now). I think it better exemplifies the overarching plot than a pic of slenderman being slenderman.
Trying to be better than I was beforeFor what it's worth, I think the main pic is excellent. It has a distinctly creepy vibe and hits uncanny valley pretty well, as it looks human, but... just doesn't feel human, which sums up Slendy pretty well, and in the end, this series, while supposedly about Alex and Jay, is really about Slendy and how he's gonna drive us all mad.
Everyone seems to agree that a single image can't show off Slendy's creepiness, so what about a sequence of images?[1]◊
Look at me, now at your friend, back to me again, hello

How about we use this◊, except with a little arrow pointing out the slender man, and a caption saying something like "He wasn't there a second ago"

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayI'm going to say to go with the poster back in post 24, because it summarizes the series without spoiling anything, and the current picture just isn't... clear, I guess, to me. I mean, having seen the series, yeah, it's creepy, but to someone who has no clue, it's just some dude standing there, and a "take our word for it, it's scary" kind of caption.
That's just my two cents, though...
I am now known as Flyboy. The nature of the show makes it hard to get an individual screenshot of decent quality that gives a good impression of Marble Hornets. But there's no official image, either. As far as I'm concerned, there are only two options: the poster or Slendy's insignia. Personally, I prefer the insignia.
And if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know. How about the shot from Entry 46 with Alex glaring at the camera and the operator behind him?
Seen here: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=32909&start=195 (scroll down a bit)
FWIW, I like the current pic. It's a creepy Eldritch Abomination, filmed poorly. That pretty well sums up the entire series.
Although if you're looking for a somewhat clearer image, we got some better shots of Tunnel!Slendy in Entry #49. But I think the shadows and distortion of the current pic look good and better capture the spirit of the series.
If we could use fan art, I would reccomend this one: http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=§ion=&q=marble+hornets#/d2kuo3x
Sorry, new here. But this, although drawn, demenstrates all of the main facts with Marble Hornets.
We can use fanart when an image is selected. However, we tend to prefer using a picture from the work in question if it is a works page.
Fight smart, not fair.
That is a really beautiful poster. I can't believe I didn't think about it before.
What is our policy on fanart?
