Yeah, I heard it's pretty sold out because there weren't many copies :( Pity, because it's a great game! I was still surprised though, I mean e.g. 999 or Ghost Trick aren't that well-known either (I think) and there are still communities out there for those. XD I made the community anyway now, you can take a look if you like ^^

Hmh, maybe I misinterpreted it, but from the way they were shown in the cutscenes, I always expected something more. I thought they were more like anti-heroes than villains but turns out they weren't. They weren't even real villains, more like the bottom line who were sacrificed for the villain in the end :/ Maybe I saw some of the lines in the wrong way, but I mean there were instances where Selvan didn't seem like such a bad guy (like when he has to burn the city and comes up with a plan to avoid that... or how he talks to Claire in the inn after he's taken her as a hostage). And the way those Dias fangirls in front of the castle were talking about him after he died I thought the game was hinting that something more about his intentions would be revealed and not just... fangirling! XD

Dias and Selvan are Pragmatically Evil. They play dirty in order to beat the corruption in current Granorg, so that they can build a better country eventually.

Well, Dias was planning to ambush and kill King Garland at a peaceful negotiation, so I wouldn't say he's anything even approaching a good guy. Those fangirls were just engaging in Draco in Leather Pants. I don't feel at all bad for him.

Selvan didn't get much development, so I can't say either way if he deserved death or not.

Alright. I'm currently chasing down Heiss in the Alternate timeline. I assume I will defeat him handily despite the fact that there are still many things I have not done, and the Standard history presumably still has shit going on there as well.

Obviously nothing bad will happen. Nothing Can Stop Us Now!!evil grin

Can you guys PLEASE put spoilers? Ugh...

Got the game about three days ago. Very nice. The combat is fun, the characters seem like they're going to be really fleshed out, and I very much like the time traveling mechanic.

The music though..good GOD. T_T

So happy I have the CD...

So How do I start Aht's Shaman quest. I was told the dude was in Cygnus, but no matter when I go there in either timeline, I never find anybody.

Yay for playing games months late!

This seemed like a nice throwback to SNES/PSX era RP Gs. It's once again proven that it's not just nostalgia: games of this style are actually pretty good. While honestly I didn't notice the music that much, the graphics, story and gameplay were all pretty good. The difficulty was pretty good too, although that may just be because I abused invisibility to skip pretty much every random battle after I got it. I also ran away from any fight involving crystals. I hate those crystals.

The game seems rather oddly balanced though. Physical attacks seemed extremely weak for most of the game and I only ever used them to push enemies around so they could be hit by magic. Aht completely slaughters everything that can be pushed, in the sense of killing bosses 5 times over in a single combo while I'm presumably underleveled. On the other hand, she's useless in fights where enemies can't be pushed.

Frankly, I'm not sure why enemies that can't be pushed even exist. It's like: "here are some enemies that completely ignore the battle system" forcing you to use every else the system offers, which is nothing. The make the game less interesting by their presence and become Fake Difficulty by needlessly removing the player's advantages. Notably the final boss is one, which wasn't fun (especially since I had Aht in the party because of the pre-final boss). I'd rather the game be balanced around expecting you to push everything everywhere and just make that relatively weaker as opposed to game breaking.

Agreed that there are some balance issues there. But given that they did make Aht such a game breaker, it's not Fake Difficulty to introduce battles where she's not all that useful (there are plenty of battles where you can't use her during the story anyway). It just means you have to treat battles as slower, chip-away fights rather than instant smackdowns.

So in my quest to actually get every node in this game (I've already beat it once, but started a new file in order to fight Pierre) I'm am necroing this thread. Please keep your swears and curses to yourselves....... (ducks a brick).........and that as well.

So, trying to get the blast core for Rosche. I read how to do it in a guide, but it makes little sense so I thought I'd ask if anyone knows how to find it.

Also, during the aforementioned first playthrough, after talking with Eruca at the beginning of chapter 3, I left the tavern and met her while she was in disguise while leaving to go to Cornet village. She talked to me about some stuff, I gave her some advice, and depending on what I say, it's possible to inspire her to openly reveal her connection to the resistance way too early as a bad end.

In my current playthrough however, I can't seem to trigger it, so I was wondering if you guys knew anything.

Okay, you know the underground lab dungeon from the Alternate History? The one where you fight Hugo? Before you go there, talk to a scientist outside the infirmary (where Stocke wakes up during The Beginning). He'll give you a quest that requires you to beat a mini boss relatively early in the dungeon. The Blast Core is the reward for beating it.

I must have done something wrong. There's no-one outside the infirmary at all. I already did that dungeon however, and am repeating it through Historia before I fight the final boss. Is it possible that there was something else I needed to do first?

Yes, you have to complete all the recruitment requests for some reason before that guy will show up.

Got this a couple of weeks ago, it was sitting in an import store, looked interesting and online said good things about it. I wasn't disappointed, brilliant game. Deserves a sequel.

You need to talk to a certain girl in Alistel. There's a pair of kids on the left side of the city (I think it's called "upper" area. Been a while since I played it) that are playing make-believe. One of them is forced to play Raul and mentions how he doesn't like it, and the girl mentions that's sort of rude to Lt. General Raul. Well, a few days after this they play again, and this time the girl gets to play Eruca. She mentions how getting an Eruca ring would let her get into the acting better, and asks Stoke to get her one if he's in the area

.

When you reach Granorg, go to the right side (the weapons store) and ask for the ring. The store clerk says they ran out. Now go talk to Eruca. (I don't know if this is before or after you're supposed to talk to your contact). By the way, this is required to get the best ending. Quite a pinch, eh?

This quest, along with Reimi's quest, were the two things I never ever found on my first playthrough. I only found it out from reading the spoilers on TV Tropes.

I've had this game for a while now, but I haven't had a decent opportunity to play it until recently. At first, knowing of a grid-based battle system and little else, I thought it would be similar to a "Let's Play" of Live A Live I'd once watched. And now, I rather wish I had the chance to play earlier; akin to practically everyone else in this topic, I've found it interesting, entertaining, and challenging without being utterly impossible.

No difficulties as of yet, but admittedly, I'm not far at all. It looks like there's some very capable people here to turn towards when a crisis arises, though.

Obligatory Feo complaint post: I'm getting really, really sick of games that set up a choice where the player could easily feel guilty for picking either option (depending on how their moral code works), then make it clear that one choice was supposed to be the "good" choice and one was supposed to be the "bad" choice. Telling Aht to exorcise the ghost was the most painful thing I've ever done in a mainstream game, and while the dialogue after the correct choice mitigates it somewhat, I still stopped caring about the plot around that point. (And having all these characters do stupid or evil things with minimal provocation on my part makes it hard to care about them, either.)

Don't get me wrong, I think this game has a lot of good ideas. (The combat system in particular will be amazing once this game's sequel or Spiritual Successor irons out the kinks in it.) I just think the whole "change the timestream and watch the effects" thing didn't turn out nearly as amazing as it sounded.

On the off-chance that anyone remembers this 6 year old game, Radiant Historia's getting a 3DS up-port. Changes include new character art that is going to be really divisive, a new party member, and a third timeline called the "Sub History" in addition to the Standard History/Alternate History. Music (thank god) and graphics seem largely untouched.

There's no word on a Western release date, and not too much more information beyond the above. We'll hear more once Persona 5 is out.

Some of the new features shown so far include voice acting for the main scenario, a CG gallery akin to visual novels, and the aforementioned new character art. Which gives Eruca long hair. Preposterous.

However, given that there is DLC replacing character art with super deformed versions, I could see switching back to the original game's character art as a plausible option.
