The western localization team decided the Chaos Emeralds were inherently evil. Super Sonic was caused by the Chaos Emeralds. Thus, they made Super Sonic evil.
I am completely, utterly, and thoroughly done with Sola Sonica and 2DI really don't get how they came up with that one. Even in Sonic 2 and 3&K, it was obvious that Sonic and Robotnick used them for different reasons. Plus, even if he didn't become Super in the first game, the blooming flowers and happy animals made it pretty clear that Sonic collecting the Emeralds was a positive outcome.
those flowers were serial killers
my drawing blog ya'll UPDATES 10 TIMES A MONTH WOW, THIS IS STRAIGHT UP MUH SOGGY KNEEActually, Fleetway!Super Sonic was created whenever Sonic got hit with too much Chaos Energy. The emeralds weren't required.
Dunno why Fleetway decided to make Super Sonic evil, though. Maybe the power got to his head?

Well Fleetway Sonic is already a jerk and has a massive ego so Super Sonic would just inflate it and having too much chaos energy cause of an accident with it would give him even more power so not only did it go to his head the extra chaos energy also corrupted him.

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.I think sonic's ego should be one of his flaws but not to where he's an unlikable selfish Jerkass.
There is a reason ( and many others) of why he was exiled
http://steamcommunity.com/id/Xan-Xan/Sonic is overconfident and jerkish in situations where things are -relatively- normal, but when he needs to step up, that confidence is fully needed and appreciated, and helps him reach his full potential. Look at pretty much any of the modern games, or the Archie comic: Sonic likes a good joke or snark, but he's still virtuous and good. He becomes king in one what-if storyline, even,
By no means should this make him an uber-asshole. I'd blame bad writing, but I haven't read the thing so I shouldn't jump to conclusions.

I think his character in Adventure 2 is a good balance between the two. He's sarcastic and has some of his best lines in the franchise, but he's also caring and we get glimpses of a softer side we rarely see.
I got to play Sonic 1 in public today. I cleared the first level from half-way in and beat the Special Stage to snatch the first emerald.
I'm good at the first level of Sonic. I'm pretty decent at the game itself, too; I've beaten the game, albeit without all the Chaos Emeralds.
I think Secret rings and Black knight also had a good balance.

YO. Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie.Considering it's the first damn level, I hope you're good at it.

my drawing blog ya'll UPDATES 10 TIMES A MONTH WOW, THIS IS STRAIGHT UP MUH SOGGY KNEESonic 1 isn't that hard if you have patience. The final boss is the easiest in the classic series(barring CD) if you ask me.
The late special stages always throw me for a loop.
That is only a Gravity Screw pun if you want it to be.
So I saw Wreck it Ralph today. Although my decision was influenced by the presence of sonic, I wanted to see it anyway.
I loved it, of course, it's my new favourite Disney. If you haven't seen it, do. It's great, in every way.
I have to admit, though, I did let out a fangirl "Squee" at hearing Sonic talk on the big screen.
And it's as a PSA, just like the old days! It's nice seeing the Blue Blur getting back in the widespread media again.
Plus, Wreck it, Wreck-It Ralph is a glorious Ear Worm.
I see the games Sonic as being much more laid back than the comics one. Archie Sonic seems more self righteous and can lose his hair if other fractions start to disagree with him even in a justified manner. There are times his ego is just outright contemptible as well (eg. the build up to House Of Cards).
Games Sonic seems more a Mr. Vice Guy, he likes to show off and do things his way, but he's very playful and easy going, and not really a guy to hold a grudge to even sworn enemies. There are people who clash with his ethics, but if so, he won't throw up a storm, he'll just brush it off and keep doing things his own way (unless someone tries to stop him however...).

I don't like Big the Cat anymore. He's starting to become grating. Are the Babylon Rogues Nominal Heroes or Anti Heroes?
I am completely, utterly, and thoroughly done with Sola Sonica and 2D
Funny, saw it just as I was going to this thread.
So why did the Fleetway Comics make Super Sonic evil anyway?
