[up] Wow there would had been 14-21 different avatar species. I wonder why they were cut down?

[up]Perhaps they wanted a perk for each species, but they couldn't, so they cut it down.

Or they didn't have the time to implement them all.

Shame that dragons didn't make the cut.

I dunno, they look cool but being able to make dragons as Sonic Ocs would too fanficy. It as if there was MLP game where you can give your pegasus bat wings or make duocorn. The character suppose to be everyman.

[up] The game we got is very similar to fanfics, so i don't think dragons would change much.

Eh, I think you can kind of make a dragon if you get get fancy/imaginative with the bird avatar customization, but yeah... I can't say that dragons would be any less fanfic-like than the concept of the avatar in general. Besides, it's not like the narrative acknowledges your species anyway.

Also, I beat Forces on the Switch a couple of days ago. My opinion hasn't changed much now that I've played through the whole game myself, but overall, despite the many gameplay and narrative problems I have with it, I still ended up really enjoying Forces and I find myself replaying the game to clear missions, get more collectibles, the red rings, and S ranks (though the daily bonus really helps with ranks), which is something I've never done in any Sonic title except for Rush and Generations 3DS. I guess the bite-sized stages helped with that though.

Yeah, Forces has deceptively great replay value. From the many missions to the surprising number of alternate routes to take (usually dependent on your Avatar's skillset).

There's not much to do beyond further customizing your Avatar.

There's all the extra stages if you care about that sort of thing.

Well, if people are pro dragons, then do you think that Avatar should get real powers, including cool ones like telekinesis, Chaos Control or Super Form?

Why not? Once you go OC, the goal should be to add as much customization as humanly possible.

Kinda off-topic but I find it both ironic and sad that the Sonic SatAM DVDs are long out-of-print since the license expired. First it was Keep Circulating the Tapes cause there were no DVDs and now it's Keep Circulating the Tapes cause the DVDs exist but they're super rare and expensive.

That show introduced dragons as heroes, didn't it?!

There was one Dragon in that series. Her name was Dulcy. Note the nose ring. Also, she has a pouch like a marsupial. Never heard of a dragon with a pouch before. She was voiced by Cree Summer and was notorious for her inability to land without crashing. It was her main schtick. She'd crash land and then utter a Non Sequitur, *Thud*, usually involving her mother. She was introduced in the show's second season.

She was also unable to lie. My first comic (issue 50) had the Chaotix trust Sonic based purely on the fact that Dulcy vouched for him and dragons can't lie.

Since you bring up the comics...

My first issue was number 38, and I kept collecting until issue 87 when I stopped because I was old enough to tell that the quality was just not there. Years later, my interest in the comics returned, and with the power of the internet I was able to assemble a complete collection of every issue on my computer. I'm reading through them now and am on issue 220.

I don't think it was bad. Actually, I would have loved a third season. Apparently they were going to bring in Knuckles and Ixis Naugus if they got another season.

lalalei2001 Since: Oct, 2009

I don't know about Knuckles, but Ixis Naugus would've taken over the Big Bad position from Robotnik, who would serve as his lackey. Snively would try and take control but eventually join the Freedom Fighters while secretly planning to betray them, but Antoine would figure it out while not realizing it. Ben Hurst also made plans for a movie, which would've involved Nicole's origin. Dulcy and Sally were his two favorite characters, apparently.

EDIT: I started collecting Sonic comics pretty sporadically—I started with the In Your Face special, had a couple scattered issues of 58, 61, Super Special 11, and 113, then started collecting with 116 and the Archives and continued until its cancellation.

Funny thing, the Floating Island already appeared in season 2. Granted, it was uninhabited and the only thing on it were the time stones that Sonic and Sally used to go back in time. And Nagus himself also appeared in season 2. The name Ixis was a comic book creation, like King Acorn's first name of Maximilian. Because these names were not in the original show, when the comics got rebooted they lost the rights to these first names, (*cough* Ken Penders, *cough*) and had to come up with new ones, thus we get Walter Nagus and King Nigel Acorn.

lalalei2001 Since: Oct, 2009
#38724: Nov 25th 2017 at 7:33:10 PM

The name Ixis was in the series bible, as were Nate Morgan and Antoine's last name being D'Coolette instead of Depardieu as in the show.

King Acorn was still unnamed though.

EDIT: on a side note as a kid I had no idea how to pronounce (or spell) Antoine and pronounced it ant-ee-own.

Last I checked (which was weeks ago, admittedly), all of the US Sonic cartoons are still available on Netflix, so people can still watch the series, though I agree with the point and acknowledge that not everyone can view Netflix.
