Poking around on Twitter revealed something interesting:

Cristina "Homura Akemi" Vee will be voicing "Mini-dora", whom I assume is a mini version of Doraemon.

Sounds like fun on a bun! grin

[up]Not me. Even if it wasn't edited, I still probably wouldn't watch it; Doramon just doesn't seem like my kind of thing. The editing only discourages me from watching it even more than before.

I could only stand the first half, then afterwards, i'd swear to never watch another anime on XD again. Sad too, because in the beginning of it airing, it had the dub of Naruto: Shippuden, which was REALLY graphic for a Disney channel to have, so that was cool. Now this.sad

This is all really alien to me.

Here in Malaysia, Doraemon's been here dubbed locally since forever. Only the higher-end foreign bookstores would have a proper manga section, but even now every bookstore and even smaller convenience shops are likely to have a few issues on the shelves. I watched it as a kid, and for those of us with only cable TV that was our evening cartoon fix. We have tons of aspiring manga artists here, and I believe Doraemon's persistent presence helped as a gateway for many of them, probably myself included.

Working on a manga. With pictures! All feedback welcome!

Saw the first half before real life called, but what I heard was surprisingly good for a kids show.

Saw it as well. It's a kid show with formulaic plots solved in 11 minutes but it does have charm to it, so I am not complaining. Kudos to Mona Marshall for her performance of Doraemon. She brings a lot of energy to the role, especially in the second half when the robo-cat goes into Disproportionate Retribution mode for not getting any yummy buns. [lol]

So I watched a few episodes of them on disney xd so far, and Ive enjoying them so far. I also saw the article about the changes but I think some people on the thread are taking them to hard and personal. Yes, I also grew up in the 4kids era and changes like the doll, crying, and bandages are totally unnecessary and chopsticks are recognized by even culturally stunted americans. But changing the test to x's instead of checks makes sense, I mean not every US child will recognize cultural differences like that. Sure most stuff should stay the same but none of it stands out like lolipops for cigarettes or invisible guns.

All of space and time, everything that ever was and could have been... and there's still nothing on tv

[up] Speaking of guns, there was an episode where policemen went to investigate an empty lot where wild animals were reported (it's really a shape-shifting Noby) and they take out their firearms out at one point. Gotta say, I'm surprised they were not at least turned into tasers.

[up][up]Funny you should mention Invisible Guns, because Doraemon happens to have a dogu that gives you the ability to do just that (shooting dudes with your finger, non-lethally of course).

Wonder if that'll pass for U.S. dub. Still, what kid nowadays will watch this dub when 4 out of 5, they've watched it online as their first anime? And can still watch it now?

It was actually quite nice. Almost choked on "USS *insert name here*", and definitely choked on "I don't think NASA would hire you soon" (wrong agency, translator".

Got to watching some of the episodes that are online now.

I like it.

Its spirit kinda reminds me of Sgt. Frog. smile

Let's hope the rest don't suck…

One thing I admire about the dub is that the majority of the dialogue is not Totally Radical.

I hope this means there's a chance for Anpanman to come to the states, I wanna hear Bakinman talk like Boris Badinoff.

Really like this dub. Me and my father were having fun watching the pet rock episode. I showed him the origin episode first and he really liked it. As a fan of Dr. slump and never seeing this series before, I appreciate how they translated the show. I admire what Bang Zoom entertainment is doing and I'm impressed Wendee Lee is doing voice direction instead of doing a voice. So I'm guessing she's like Andrea Romano here.

So, I've been checking out the dub. Pretty good, actually; Doraemon still sounds kinda off to me. The name changes bother the hell out of me though.

Is anyone here thinking of doing a Doraemon liveblog? I'd be very interested in seeing a newcomer's view of this show.

Doraemon sounds fine to me since I haven't watched the series before. Voice reminds me of Season 1 Meowth for some reason.

Okay, so I did catch a little more of it today, it was nice and kind of engaging, but it still bugs me that they're trying to act as if Noby lives in the U.S of Asshole dubs.

Watching episode 12, I'm impressed the writers actually acknowledged my gripe of Doraemon and his tools being "deus ex machina tools" and actually made the characters have to think on their own.
