Evan Emory charged with Child Pornography

Basically, Evan Emory sang a clean song to children, then when alone, sang a dirty song, and as a joke on youtube, edited the two songs to make it seem like he was singing about sex to children.

He is now charged with making child sexually abusive material. He is facing the possibility of 20 years in prison.

Only in America. I give up.

If the charges stick, he should just kill himself, since that's what the Moral Guardians want anyway. :P

N Ot because I think he did anything wrong, but because charges like that basically mean you're a pariah forever due to Megan's Law.

That's absolutely terrible. Not the edited video, the fact he's being charged with producing child porn! The hell is wrong with people? And the newscasters don't help either. "Identifiable faces of the children involved could be seen in the video" is language used with actual child pornography, not.... this!

I'm not sure what to think of the charges, but did he really have to make that joke video? That kind of mindset is probably what put people on edge.

Yeah one thing I've been seeing a lot lately is that people with no sense of humour fucking love destroying people's lives because of shit they put on the internet.

That's why I'm so paranoid about obscuring my real life identity. I already had one nasty brush with that sort of thing and I'm not keen to relive the experience.

I never saw the video, so I don't actually know how bad it was, but just going by the reports it sounds like it was a harmless joke, in which case this is fucking diabolical.

Oh well. Another human life ruined, I guess.

I'm guessing that the people reacting to the video this way aren't familiar enough with Internet culture to be aware of said Lemon Demon video. @ Pykrete

What's especially cringeworthy about this case is that Emory ALREADY had a disclaimer in the video, saying that children weren't around when he sang the dirty version. Apparently this wasn't enough for some people.

Apparently' he's being charged with "making child sexually abusive material" which can have multiple meanings (apparently) but generally means "making child porn"

Someone should not have their life ruined because of a minor mistake and the tremendous stupidity of others.
