why is so cool to hate justin bieber?

I am not a fan of him. But he seems to receive a lot of hate wherever I go on the interent. I wonder why

I'll admit, I actually feel terribly sorry for the kid.

I suppose that comes with fame, but to be hated by such an enormous number of people would kind of suck.

Well, it's partly because he's widely perceived as having undeserved fame for relatively little talent, but I think it also has a bit to do with his feminine and somewhat childlike appearance... it's quite unconventional for a male celebrity to have that, and I can't help but wonder if it has a bit to do with macho fanaticism.

I don't like him because of his hair and his fashion sense, but because his music is stupid and unoriginal and does not bring anything new to the plate. Not to mention, the boy's an idiot - there's a clip of him on You Tube where he didn't know what "German" was. I mean, really...

There's all of that, but it's also possible that "hate Justin Beiber" has become a meme unto itself.

I don't really hate him, but he's an extremely dull pop star.

Theres something about him that makes people just want to slap him. Hard. Plus is it really popular to hate him as well.

Because people insist on bringing him up at every opportunity.

But only the "haters" insist on bringing him up at every possible opportunity. There's actually some Hype Backlash against hating him so much with people starting to swing towards indifference.

Some people hate him because he has a very high vocal register for a man his age. This, combined with his very lithe, soft, and hairless appearance, makes him seem rather feminine. In the eternal words of the queen of pop:

Well, he's been very successful. That's probably part of it.

I dislike him because he's a mediocre singer who's been forcibly rammed down the public's throats. That said, people tend to overdo it.

So it's overmarketing? Can't really blame the kid for that.

Bastard stole my first name! I signed an agreement with Timberlake, so we're cool, but Beiber's a rouge agent.

I don't hate him personally. I just dont like him as a performer.

He gained some respect in that commercial when he made fun of himself.

That said, I cannot stand any "teen heart throb"

Most teen heart throbs are Forced Meme personified. I had the same loathing for most of what Disney did for the last 8-9 years.

He's also a major Jerkass...

Justin Bieber is just like any other singer imo. He's just another Kanye West, Tupac, or that white rapper that appeared in the Ninja Turtles movie. They're all about the same level.

People hate him now because he's popular and rich(closet jealousy?). As a person who liked none of these artists, I can tell you their musics are all the same in terms of quality. He's not better or worse than people like Eminem. But just like Kanye West and Tupac, his time will end sooner or later and he'll just be another passing fad that will be replaced by someone else in the future.

Never seen the clip myself, but I heard that it was taken out of context. Or maybe he meant he "didn't know German"...as in he doesn't know a lick of that language.

Eh, not quite the same thing. I don't particularly like the music of those other people, but they don't feel nearly so invasive.

That's only because their time is over. My reaction to Bieber is just like my reaction to the crap Kanye West or some other passing artist used to dish out...ranging from "boring" to "meh" at best.

Even in his heyday though, Kanye was mostly confined to actual music scenes that I wasn't going to anyway. Teen pop stars tend to be persistently thrown at you through other means (lookin' at you Disney), sometimes taking up an unreasonable amount of an outlet normally dedicated to other things (again, lookin' at you Disney).

This illustrates my position with Beiber and his pretty-boy ilk (Cussing is present):

For me it's largely hype aversion, but his lyrics are vapid and the response to his "moves" bothers me. Good, and even not bad, artists are not getting the same reaction with the same rewards.

That just means he appeals to a different demographic...the mature woman and teenaged girls demographics...

...I really don't want to think of how or why Bieber might be targeted at mature women.
