If video games were exactly as good/bad as it was hyped/anti-hyped....

^^^ Forgive me, I am not aware of all the Sonic hate that goes on. I've simply played the newer ones while vaguely hearing about its negative reviews online. No need to be a Jerkass.

Shadow Hearts would not have existed at all, and Haze would've been a masterpiece of storytelling.

The sad thing is...the ONE and ONLY game that has ever managed to live up to it's hype is Shadow Of The Colossus...these games are so few and far inbetween...and I really wish Team Ico would release that game as a Wii Ware or something.

Mario Galaxy did a pretty amazing job of it. Both of them.

Oh, and Metroid: Other M would have been a deep, nuanced, and tasteful look into the personal life and drives of a strong, multidimensional, independent woman who has a lick of common sense and totally has a significant effect on the plot of her own damn game.

This reminds me of everything I hated about King Zeal.

Funny, I thought he was probably one of the best video game villains. Unlike most other villains, his ambitions made sense.

Oh I should clarify. I like King Zeal the character, for the same reasons. I hate him because the creators of Crimson Echoes (or at least one of them) could NOT stop talking about how awesome Zeal is and how he should be the main character and such and so on. I can usually ignore the Wesley accusations/insinuations and judge a character myself, but not when I feel like I'm being told that I should like this character.  ^*

My response was more or less based around what Aondeug had said. It pretty much codifies how the creators felt and wanted me to feel about King Zeal.

GTA would have started a crime wave in America's inner cities the likes of which would surely mean the doom of civilization.

Simultaneously, Pokemon would turn a whole generation of kids into thoughtless weeboo zombies.

All JRPG's would center around emo teenage males. Yes, that includes FF IV, Xenosaga, Neptunia, and Persona 3 Portable.

Meanwhile the Gay Option in [insert Bioware Game Here] would turn otherwise straight males gay. I limit this to males because everyone knows the only games that females are playing are the ones on Facebook.

Feeding Frenzy would not just be worth buying the full version for. The full version would be more important that your house.

Robot Unicorn Attack would cure all sickness and bring about world peace.

Inserting a Pokemon cartridge into your gameboy would open a portal to hell, allowing those who play the game to be possessed by demons who would drive them to evil.

God of War, Call of Duty, Dragon Age and Mass Effect would be good games.

Hey, Mass Effect's pretty decent.

Final Fantasy XIII's battle system would be the greatest one in the series with all the hype it gets.

The fandom generally screams Ruined Forever at the sight of any new Silent Hill game 4, including Silent Hill Downpour.

Of course, I personally partially agree that most of the Silent Hill games after 3 did suck, but the fanbase is a bit too rabid about it (OH MY GOD THEY'RE AMERICANIZING MY PRECIOUS JAPANESE HORROR THAT'S THE ONLY POSSIBLE EXPLANATION FOR THE LACK OF QUALITY!!!!).

However, the response of the fans was definitely much different from the critical response.

And yeah, **** Shattered Memories.

Ah...well...since I'm not a huge fan of Silent Hill, I only pay attention to the game once it comes out, so I don't have a chance to yell Ruined Forever...until I started playing Silent Hill Shattered Memories. That wasn't even a game...

Playing Super Mario Galaxy 2 would be the equivalent of having a month long orgasm given by thousands of singing angels and playing Other M would be like watching the Nazis eat kittens over Gods rotting corpse as the Universe collapses in on itself and all hope dies.

All games made from this point onward would be related to Touhou in some way.

FF 14 would be playable.

To expand on that...

The updates to Final Fantasy XIV since the change in leadership would've transformed it into an unrivaled masterpiece that would sear Naoki Yoshida's name into the pages of history as being to online gaming what Picasso was to art or the Beatles were to music, and driven everyone who gave the game a negative review to offer their lives in penance.

Why NO, I'm NOT the least bit bitter or cynical about that game, its current state, or my being naively optimistic enough to think that it might actually be GOOD at release, or even sometime soon.
