You mean Saudi Arabia?
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.I heard that the Arabic dub of Digimon censored the digivolutions because "evolution" is not allowed to be mentioned on TV there.
Why I am afraid of fences.Didn't they ban Pokemon because it was satanic or something?
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyTen year old article, mind.

[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.Right. Not Satanism.
But seriously, I find it rather odd that anime would even make it there, much less catch on.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyIt actually caught on more than anyone could have prediicted.
One such anime is Tokimeki Tonight. The story of Ranze Eto,A Cute Monster Girl Trapped in a Love Triangle. I checked out the manga and its pretty good.

I thought there is no way anime could fly in Arabia seeing as they have strict censor laws and we all know anime is over-sexualised and perverted.
A wish is never free. And I thought you were smart enough not to make insulting generalizations.
GUESS WE WERE BOTH WRONG.

Yeah. But censorship is a fact of life there,VERY STRICT localization measures are applied, but still they must enjoy them regardless. And besides they are VERY picky with what they localize.
Anime is due to this more mainstream there than say THE FRICKING SIMPSONS.

Although The Simpsons case is more like One Piece's:Recieving a terrible censored dub.
I see some people need their worldviews to be expanded a bit.
So rerailing this topic, sorta...Apparently Nanoha is decently popular in France.
Maybe it's the frilly dresses?
^ Is it ? There's been no official French-language release (either dub or sub), to my knowledge...
And how is Rerailing the Topic Mentioning its popularity IN ANOTHER COUNTRY(Which IS interesting, but in no way "rerails" the topic)
It's as close to a rerail as we'll get here.
Saudi Arabia, like a lot of countries outside of Japan and the Anglosphere received a boatload of Toei shows between the 70s and 90s. Chief among those was UFO Robo Grendizer (Goldorak) which enjoys a similar status in several other countries. Ashita No Joe was also popular.

@Jhiday: Can't quite remember. All I remember is some offhand discussion of it in the main Nanoha thread.
The same way anime is popular here in Philippines despite the TV stations being dirt poor and only capable of airing reruns of Voltes V: piracy.
I suspect rampant piracy makes anime alive in Saudi Arabia. And because the government is actively trying to censor it, it only makes anime even more popular.
Yeah...
And some anime DO get legitimate airings on major networks like MBC 3 (Cyborg 009 2001 series)
I have it from a reliable source that Dragon Ball's Arabic localization had effectively no less than two thirds of it censored in one way or the other, either due to skimply dressed women, nudity, gory wounds, "generic obscenity" (i.e. Bacterian's Fartillery), "pagan" stuff like witchcraft/magic/sorcery/whatever-you-call-it, Heaven, Hell HFIL, Gods and Demons, and all resurrections are macekred into "he's grievously injured, so we have to take him to an alien planet" (and yes, that's "alien planet" as in DB's afterlife). Of course, there's other stuff that I do not remember off-hand. Believe me, I wouldn't have believed all that if I hadn't seen it for myself; what, are they taking their kids as complete idiots?! (Yes, the Arabic-dub's demographic is children.)
And no, it's not the only one that's recieved that treatment. I hear Spacetoon has started broadcasting Ranma One Half a few months ago. Um, hello? Fanservice- and Fetish Fuel-overloaded Harem Genre sex farce? With tons of magic and supernatural stuff? Seriously, what were they thinking?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. There's a picture going around somewhere which shows a picture of Haruhi Suzumiya being used as part of a protest in the Lebanon.
So basically, the SOS Brigade's next task will be to bring peace to the Levant. Nice.
OK, next step is to make an anime set in Arabia. How about a Harem Anime with an actual harem. Huh, huh?
<Dodges everything thrown at him.>

Source or copy of picture?
Then you'd be doing something that not even the Harem Genre's originators have done. Quite an achievement, eh?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. That's what I was going for. You would think someone would have thought of that already.
Just to be sure we're on the same page, did you mean "the actors of the characters in a Love Dodecahedron are in a polyamorous relationship", or "the Love Dodecahedron is a harem in its original/literal sense of 'a (usually Muslim/Arab) ruler's wives, concubines, and (often) female relatives (mother, daughter, sisters, etc.), as a completely segregated section of his greater household'"? Because I was thinking the former.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.
I didnt know about it till now, but it seems that anime has caught on more on Arabia.
I would like to know the kind of anime that is enjoyed over there...
