And that is a device of fiction not the real world. Politics are drastically more complex then a trope.

Who watches the watchmen? How Yemen's capital was sized by Houthi rebels. Apparently quite a few people think Salah had a hand in it. The Arab world's preference for conspiracy theories aside,I think that one actually hold water.
I Bring Doom, and a bit of gloom, but mostly gloom.Actually, it existed long before people ever thought of tropes. And it was an actual politician who coined the term.
The "Realist" perceptive on IR is far from the only valid one, and it has a lot of issues with it.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ Cyran@Jack - Aye, I've heard that theory too. If true, Saleh really is a sore loser since it's his own former Vice President thats gonna fall from power. Granted, it also might just be superfocused revenge against both Mohsen (who he once tried to assassinate when he was in power and who is now in exile thanks to the Houthis) and al-Islah with whom he has personal and ideological differences with respectively....but if so, he really either doesn't care about the consequences or doesn't realize.
Also, considering how well the GCC are taking this turn of events, they could have given their ascent...
The Houthi don't much like Saleh either though, so while he can help them hurt their mutual enemies, he won't gain anything himself from this...
Copying and posting from somewhere else.
"Strange actions by the Turkish government. Though Turkey is known for being one of the primary supply routes (if not the primary one) for weapons and manpower to ISIS, the Turkish government closed the border crossing at Kobane last week to outgoing traffic in an attempt to keep Kurdish men from joining the battle for Kobane, though they kept it open for refugees coming in. Yet the day after they restricted Kurdish movement into Syria, foreign ISIS recruits were captured at the border moving into Syria by YPG fighters. Then reports came out yesterday of Turkish soldiers going so far as to fire on and kill Kurdish men attempting to cross into Syria to join the battle.
Claims that Turkey is willing to support ISIS in order to weaken YPG do not appear to be so far-fetched anymore. "
Quag: Even then it is still a gross oversimplification of reality and referencing the even more watered down and simplified Tvtropes version is not accurate either.
Who watches the watchmen? What is that source per chance?
I Bring Doom, and a bit of gloom, but mostly gloom. No idea, just copy and pasted, wondered what people think.
Big claim: no source/corroboration, no validity.
Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three.Well I have heard that people think Turkey is deliberately dragging its feet over all of this.
From where?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanPundits, other forums, things like that. I'm just asking what people think because I"m not nearly as educated on this matter as others and I was curious of there's any truth to it or not.
Well, so are we. If you could link us to one of these forums or blogs, some of us would be grateful.
It was just a post on Neogaf, and I don't recall the exact things I heard, just generic discussions around the net.
I would appreciate it if someone could get a source for Turkey firing on Kurds trying to get into Syria. While I find it highly unlikely, even unthinkable, that Turkey would directly support ISIS, they could be trying to do what the Russians did to the Polish Home Army at Warsaw, wait for the troublesome elements to kill each other than advance.
I Bring Doom, and a bit of gloom, but mostly gloom. All that I found was about Turkish forces using water cannons and tear gas to disperse Kurdish demonstrators on the Turkish-Syrian border.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Kobane's a city not a village. Also, hospitals are obliged to treat all,the Hippocratic oath, that said they are also obligated to turn ISIS fighters over to the local authorities.
In better news it appears that Turkish hospitals are also treating Kurdish soldiers.

I Bring Doom, and a bit of gloom, but mostly gloom.Apparently Arab twitter users are not happy about US strikes in Syria. Apparently Obama's efforts to get Arab states involved in order to appease the Arab World were in vain,as most are pissed at their governments for going through with the strikes. Many have also accused the US of backing Assad in all this.
Palestinian journalist Rasha Hirzallah tweeted in Arabic: "Arab weapons rapidly emerged to strike Syria. For more than 66 years, Palestine has been under [the Israeli] occupation and no Arab country fired a single bullet against Israel." I find this to be hilarious as it discounts the original Arab attack on Israel the day it became a nation, the Suez War,the Six Day War,and the Yom Kapor war. Say what you will about how the Arab leaders treated Palestinians, and there is a lot to say about that, they tried their damnedest to destroy Israel.
Egyptian activist Samirah Ibrahim, with over 223,000 followers, tweets."Do you think the US jets will differentiate between ISIS and the rest, you spiteful traitors!! All that is happening right now is destroying whatever is left in Syria."
I Bring Doom, and a bit of gloom, but mostly gloom.Keep the Israel stuff to that thread please. It's bad enough the Arab Spring itself is getting sidelined in its own thread.
Sorry,I was only trying to interject some humor. Still it seems like most of the nations that helped the US will live to regret it.
Any way the verdict in Mubarak's trial was postponed agin. The presiding judge said he needed more time to finish writing his verdict, after examining 160,000 pages of evidence. I am well aware that they don't,but I can't help but imagining Mubarak and Morsi sharing a sell an grumbling about the Egyptian people. Someone really needs to make that political cartoon.
I Bring Doom, and a bit of gloom, but mostly gloom.
Why am I not surprised in the least.
I'm sure if we did nothing people would be going "OMG WHY ISNT AMERICA DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THE DAESH FUCKING AMERICAN DEVILS NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM YOU CAUSED"
That kind of populist reaction to US and Western intervention has also been happening for 65 years, if not longer. Trust me, the US allies helping us couldn't care less what some left-leaning twittering journalists think.
This trope begs to differ.
