... Uh, those two kids do realize that Slender Man is an unsympathetic villain who is more likely than not to not care the slightest bit for his proxies' well-being, right?

I blame the parents.

Really not that much different than if someone claimed Darth Vader told them in their dreams to kill people. Psychoses use whatever is on your mind.

If your parents never teach you the difference between real and fiction, I think you are going to have problems sooner or later

Who knows who's the blame? Maybe it's the parents, maybe they were ill,, maybe they were too young, let's not jump to conclusions or throw around slurs aimed at mentally ill people. Let's instead offer our condolences to the family.

We've already got one confirmed case of Cowboy BeBop at His Computer. USA Today stated that Slenderman was the "alleged leader of the Creepypasta". Once the talkshows get ahold of this, there will probably be more.

Also, the podcast run by the makers of Marble Hornets is being redone to address this.

Have they actually gotten in touch with the family? It's a great sentiment and I'm not accusing this of being a scam, but I am a bit concerned that whoever's running the fundraiser is risking raising a bunch of money without a well-defined plan to get it to the intended recipient. I had understood the victim to still be anonymous at this time.

Once they found out it's a user led website of you know, ghost stories, the media will die down. It's like saying Catcher in the Rye inspires spree killers.

Dr Drew's show was talking about it being fake. Not sure how long they kept on it, I switched to Heroes Of Cosplay when Dr Drew was being intelligent about the whole thing and I couldn't get any humor from bad reporting.

Many people on the creepypasta wiki have also expressed concern at this, and have encouraged others to stop linking to the fundraiser until it's confirmed that the money is able to reach its intended destination. I removed the link for now.

Apparently been another Slender Man-inspired attack in Ohio.

Are we seeing a copycat crime instance here?

Or maybe more kids can't tell the difference from reality and fantasy nowadays?
