Linky

There's also some stuff about Tim Pawlenty, but let's focus on Palin here. Her lack of research (Blood libel is an anti semetic slur saying that Jews kill Christian children then use their blood for matzos and other religious services. Palin apparently thought it meant something else) and hilariously bad reading of her own statement make me wonder how well she though this through. Any other thoughts?

Ha! Get back into the cave you crawled out from, Palin! Good luck running for President now!

Oh, wait. Pawlenty's looking good, now. Wow. He could win. Um...darn. Now I want Palin back, so she can give the Dems the presidency.

Except for 4/1/2011. That day lingers in my memory like...metaphor here...I should go.

If she smears herself badly enough that people stop voting for her, so much for the better.

So, so much for the better.

@Ultrayellow: I would hope that the Democrats could win on their own merits, and not just from having an incompetent opposition.

@Pykrete: Then she'd just hang around as a celebrity speaker for the Republicans, and we'd never hear the end of it.

The only other option I see is to let her remain in office, and fuck that.

God, could that woman stop being so fucking smug while talking about a horrible tragedy? Ugh. I hate politicians.

So would I. But they aren't a very good political party, and they aren't very organized. Plus, as long as the Republicans don't mess up, the country will elect a moderate conservative. It's what we do. So I'll settle for the Dems winning because of an incompetent opposition.

Apparently this is such an obviously terrible thing that you don't feel the need to explain why it's bad.

moderate conservative? Those still exist?

I remember when Mc Cain was a moderate, those were the days.

Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?

I'd just like to point out that Bush ran for his first term as a moderate conservative, and we all know how that turned out.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure a large percentage of the American population realizes what's so ridiculous about that statement.

Does she not have a speech writer or at least some one to look over what she is going to say first?

If so I think they enjoy watching her make an ass of herself?

It just cracked me up when I tried to discuss this with my geography teacher. He claimed Palin made an honest mistake (I think it's more stupidity) and that she just has to apologize and everything will be a-ok. Personally, I think it might be a while before she can live this down.

She hasn't apologized yet. If she does, watch her try to do it on Facebook.

I still giggle when Republicans say that Palin stands a chance in a general election.

It would really help if she apologized. Regardless of whether there was a connection or not, if something like this happens, you apologize. That's just being a decent human being.

Palin pulling an upset in the primary would probably guarantee the Dems win the House back. (Un)fortunately, I see her speech (because of the overall pettiness, not the "blood libel" remark) costing her support even beyond the "left."

Edit: whose support she never really had, I suppose. Oops

Seriously, someone needs to tell her that her smug, arrogant, "I'm talking down to my opponents because they're behaving like spoiled children whereas I'm the mommy" smile is NOT appropriate in the wake of a tragedy. It does, however, betray her real focus: She doesn't appear to care if a human being, multiple human beings, have lost their lives; she only cares that someone out there said she was wrong, OMG!

BTW, I'm a chick.

I'm guessing in order to even become their candidate she'd have to go through the primary debates, right? I can only imagine how severely humiliated she'd be in those. o.o
