The only short manga one-shots I've liked have been fan doujinshi. Mind you, at least with those one-shots they already have established characters and setting so they can hit the ground running.
@ Chagen - It's fine that you can enjoy seme/uke but since that's almost all of yaoi, there's not much room there for people who don't like that dynamic. More variety would easily fix the problem.

Do you mean official or fan translation because if you mean the latter there's plenty if you know where to look. Quality can vary a lot with them I've noticed depending on who's doing the work. Lililicious tends to have consistently good scans in both image and translation quality.
If official yeah...there's not too much...ALC's Yuri Monogatari is more or less your only hope for doujinshi and other lesser known works and Seven Seas is the next company one can rely on. Or at least they could. I'm not sure what the current fate of the Strawberry Line is save that they still sell Kashimashi and Strawberry Panic!. I know that First Love Sisters is on hold. One company has a yuri fan line type thing for anime. Then there's things here and there released by other companies that are either of interest to yuri fans or actual yuri.

Official. I didn't look into fan translation of yuri yet because I hadn't had enough interest yet. Maybe I will someday.

Fan translation's how I got into it. I didn't know much about the stuff (just that it was "lesbian porn" and "gross" and "stupid, I hung out with some rather stupid yaoi fans in middle school) and it was available for free online. I lucked out and found a good team and picked out a nice work that while not entirely yuri and not something I personally would call a yuri series is very entertaining regardless. And then it was released out here officially and I was a happy girl. I really had little to no hope for Mari Mite.
