My recent ideas were kind of similar,

• The first was a Shared Universe between animes with high school protagonists (Haruhi Suzumiya, Medaka Box, FLCL, Kill La Kill, Highschool DXD, Evangelion). Wasn't sure who the villains would be, but initially I thought a story where I Just Want to Be Normal characters like Kyon, Shinji, Naota, and Zenkichi would be fun.
• The other one was a "Justice League" type of story - classic anime heroes (Goku, Sailor Moon, Cutie Honey, Revolutionary Utena, Lupin the III, etc) meeting in some kind of "New York" location and fighting villains like Sosuke Aizen, Beatrice the Golden Witch, Izaya, more)
  • I was struggling with integrating One Punch Man, Tiger And Bunny, and My Hero Academia into the story. On one hand, their settings would fit, but Saitama has Story-Breaker Power, while Tiger And Bunny bored the snot out of me and I didn't want to rewatch it, and MHA, while it wasn't as boring, it's focused more on the "students" than the "pro-heroes." I didn't want to write Anime Teen Titans, but Anime Justice League Unlimited.
  • My dream team was Goku, Koro-sensei, Saber, Shiro Emiya, Yusuke Urameshi, Sailor Moon, and a few others.
    • Problem being that's a lot of anime I have to watch and research.

Inside Out, but in the mind of 99-year-old Coco Rivera.

Headquarters and all of Coco's islands of personality have crashed into the abyss, where they've sat for years, slowly crumbling and fading. Fear, Anger and Disgust were forgotten years ago. Now, Joy and Sadness desperately try to climb out of the abyss using bits and pieces from Family Island, before they too are forgotten. And Joy is clinging to Coco's core memories for dear life, hoping against hope that they don't fade entirely. The screen in headquarters flickers, but the control panel is barely responsive. Then, when all seems lost and Coco's last core memory, the one of her papa's lullaby, threatens to grow dim for the final time, Joy and Sadness swear they hear music.

This is amazing. Go and write it ASAP.

I have been sitting on a Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire style The Legend of Zelda idea for some time, where it takes place well after the game series is up to the current point (the timeline doesn't matter). Here's what I got so far.

For This Marble Throne:

Hyrule is divided into nine provinces (named after regions from BOTW) with "Nine Lordly Houses" presiding over them. The citizens include the Rito, Zora, Gorons, and Gerudo, all of which have capital cities of their own located within the provinces they're situated in (e.g. the Gerudo capital of Gerudo City is, naturally, located within Gerudo province, BUT is separate from the provincial capital of Ashinon).

Termina, Holodrum, Labrynna, Gamelon, Koridai, etc. all exist as separate nations, with Hyrule occupying Gamelon after Onkled's Rebellion.

Ganondorf of House Dragmire, Lord of Gerudo Province, is not the same Ganon from the games, but a separate Gerudo, given the name to reclaim it from the Evil One, and while I will portray him menacingly at first, the plan is to have him be Good All Along and have the guy who's friends with Link's dad (Lance of House Alistair, Lord of Lanayru Province) turn out to be the bad guy, but play him up benevolently until that point. Basically, like Littlefinger, he had a thing for the lady who would become Lord Alistair's wife, and holds that grudge hardcore. And when King Harkinian passes, the guy seizes power as the Regent, though he is trying to nab the Triforce so he can "prove" he is the rightful king (e.g. wish for his family to have the throne), and then the story becomes about the realm fracturing, Link and Ganondorf embarking on a quest to obtain the Nine Keys (one for each Lordly House) and the Master Sword (the tenth "key" needed to open the Vault of the Goddess), so as to take the Triforce for Zelda and restore her family, while Zelda journeys abroad in hiding.

Other mini-plots would include a few romantic plots (I'm not sure who I want Link to end up with, as I want to feature Paya, Riju, Malon, and several other major Zelda characters, and I'm not sure who I would like Link with the best), Lance Alistair with Impa (old flame renewed as Adele Alistair passed giving birth to Aryll), etc. Also to include Vaati as a mage-in-training, educated by Ezlo and sent to the Mages' Tower to be trained as a mage by Lana, but have Wizzro corrupt him and Cia in an attempt to take control of the Mages for himself in King Harkinian's death's fallout, Zelda's diplomacy with Ikana (think of them like the Kingdom of the Dead from LOTR), Termina, and other foreign nations, to create a great alliance to restore her to the throne should the Triforce plot fail (spoilers, it will), and then after that, well...

Finally, there's the Iceborn (the White Walkers/Others expy) are descending from the Frozen Wastes At World's End, bringing with them an army of the dead, and the wildlings in the Frozen North have no idea they're coming, and neither do the Northmen, so as everything goes on in Hyrule, the eternal cold approaches.

I've already hammered out several things to do with this story over the last several months, and I've even written a prologue and a good chunk of the first chapter. As well, I've also been toying with a few ideas:

• A lemon or two or twenty included, simply because a) it's intentionally reminiscent of A Song of Ice and Fire, and b) try to see how many puck up the story for whacking material (though I can always simply extract the lemons entirely as separate skippable chapters/portions, or just host it on GDocs)
• Making the story text-only on FF Net by default, but having the REAL version (featuring music and maybe art) be stored on Google Docs, linked through my FF Net Profile.
• Making this story long. I don't want it to be split over seven books across twenty years and counting, but a long story with plenty of intrigue, several characters, and the threat of impending icy winter.

So that's a summary of what I've got to this point.

I had an idea for a Cardcaptor Sakura fan fiction inspired by old-school late 90's and early 2000's nostalgia.

In fact, it is essentially a refinement of an idea I had for a Cardcaptors AU story I came up with as a kid in 2000-2001 when the old dub was airing on Kids WB back in the day.

I didn't really know about fan fiction at the time and had no idea there was a community for it, but even as a small kid I came up with "What if?" scenarios for my favorite shows.

For that old-school feel, I will be using the names from the Nelvana Cardcaptors dub to give it an aura of authenticity, essentially making it look like it was actually written during the time the show was airing in America.

The actual fic itself is an AU set in The Wild West and is based in the frontier town of Reedington, with the cast being re-imagined as Western archetypes.

As a kid, I was obsessed with Westerns and loved playing Cowboys & Indians and the like. I loved watching Tombstone and Wild Wild West back in the day, I even enjoyed watching reruns of Gunsmoke with my grandfather back then.

Looking back on those days, I figured I'd revisit this long-buried idea and bring it to life.

I have had a number of ideas for stories I want to write, but one stuck with me and recently resurfaced.

I'm not sure how it came to me, but at some point I imagined what the first Five Nights at Freddy's game would be like as the plot of an episode of Batman: TAS. I have the mental image of thugs trying to break in and rob the place, and Batman having to save them, then learning about the horrid past and doing some investigating.

Side note, seeing the animatronics drawn in that style would be very interesting to me.

May or may not write, recording here for posterity. Given the popularity of the source material when it comes to fics, I would not be surprised if this has been done already, but what the hell. :V

The short version: A darkly-comedic Pokémon fic that deals with the creation of a villainous team, since the games themselves don't tend to dwell too much on the logistical and motivational issues behind creating such an organization :V.

The long version: The story itself would follow a former member of Team Skull - one of the standard Grunts that the player probably steamrolled without a second thought - who was dissatisfied with the group's disbandment, so they move to Hoenn^note The only reason I chose Hoenn is because it's the region I'm most familiar with, since I've played Sapphire the most of any Pokemon game :V and decide to Start Their Own team; initially and rather uncreatively named 'Team Skull TWO' ("and our symbol will be TWO SKULLS!"), but they soon change that so everyone stops making fun of them for having no imagination.

Then they discover that creating and running a villain team is neither as easy nor as rewarding as they thought. They need to go out and recruit some admins, recruit some grunts, invent some kind of motivation or goal to get them riled up, pick a type speciality (because you gotta have one), design a cool uniform (you gotta have one of those, too), instil fear in the hearts of the populace (somehow), source funds to bankroll the whole operation (those secret poster doors, submarines and snappy fur-lined suits don't pay for themselves, yanno), and argue with their chosen admins every step of the way. All the while being on constant lookout for young trainers that torpedoed so many teams before them, to the point that they ignore the literal uniformed police officers probing into their operations.

As you can tell, it'd be mostly a comedy fic - perhaps a Black Comedy in the same vein as a Guy Ritchie movie (think Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, but with Pokemon. You know, and also considerably less guns and swearing and blood and death.) Also, note that I couldn't decide what gender the protagonist is, hence me referring to them as 'they' this whole time. :V

I'd read it.

Maybe I should write a story for the World of Darkness RPG setting, particularly Vampire: The Masquerade or Mage: The Ascension.

I want to write a post-canon fic for The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky where Joshua is playing the harmonica to block out Estelle's pained screams. He reflects on the frightening similarities between Estelle's suffering and his memories of Hamel and his sister's death. After a while, Joshua rushes inside the room and calls out for Estelle and begs for her to not die and stay with him. This would be where the Bait-and-Switch is revealed where it turns out Estelle was giving birth to Joshua's child and the fic ends on a heartwarming note.

That, um...seems a bit morbid to couple with child birth.

I guess it kind of is, but I think it'll make for a more effective Bait-and-Switch that way. The story would be told from Joshua's POV where he's stressed and extremely sleep-deprived after responding to one of the guild's monster hunting quests with Estelle. His headspace isn't all that right which is why his thought process drifts towards worst case scenarios. Yes, Estelle is strongly implied to be a Pregnant Badass in this fic.

A mix of Adult Fear (the possibility Joshua losing his wife and a feeling of helplessness while she's in pain) and Tear Jerker, then a sudden shift to WAFF.

I see. Well, I won't tell you not to do it, but this is a sensitive topic, so you need to be sure to handle it with care.

Though if I'm being honest, the shift to "Oh no, my wife is suffering!" to "Oh right, she's having a baby!" sounds rather jarring, to say the least.

Fair enough, I figured it was worth throwing my idea out there to get feedback. It's not easy writing relationships when you're single, I'll tell you that much. I'll probably stick to something simpler and more lighthearted.

All your suggestions are probably great, but I have a more mundane idea, an all encompassing fanfiction series, combining plot elements, and characters from Super Sentai, Power Rangers, Kamen Rider, Dragon Knight, Masked Rider (Saban's), VR Troopers, the three metal heroes shows that it uses footage from, Big Bad Beetleborgs, and their Japanese counterparts. Now that I've got you interested, I shall regal you the story of my 'brilliant' idea, in my version, through a twist of fate, Trini is the Red Ranger, and Kimberly is the Black Ranger, it then has Billy as the Pink Ranger, Zack as the Blue Ranger, and instead of Jason we have Victor Lee Scott, as the Yellow Ranger.

To counteract Tommy Oliver syndrome, we take a character from Lightspeed Rescue (whose counterpart was more important to that show) said character being Nancy, aging her down to be around the same age as the others, (also the rangers aren't under the age of 16) and having her take over his plotlines, with a few choice alterations, to accommodate the character, such as having to give up her powers because of Rita's green candle acting much like the snake tattoo curse from Lightspeed Rescue, but much quicker for every time she de-morphs she's using up more of her lifespan, and so she leaves, to return in another of my ideas further down the line. And so she's not the White Ranger, in season 2, instead we have Ryan Steele as the White Ranger, but Trini remains the leader of the team, and instead of Trini, Zack, and Victor leaving for the peace conference, we have Zack's cousin, plus Ritchie, and Rocky (because Rocky was a blank slate of a character) leaving for the conference.

Of course my ideas are obviously terrible.

As weird as this sounds, I had an idea for a Vietnam War AU fic for Voltron: Legendary Defender.

Shiro, Lance, Keith, Hunk, and Pidge would be in a Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol squad, with Shiro as a sergeant or lieutenant and the others as grunts.

Go for it! I'm a sucker for military AU fics as long as Artistic License – Military is averted with a vengeance. Speaking of ideas, I published a prologue for a JoJo fic that has an OC member of the Joestar family leading a Stand-using special forces team.

Since we were talking about the Trails series, I have my own, somewhat cracky idea.

So basically, after the events of Trails of Cold Steel II, Bleublanc takes Vita to a Heimdallr nightclub to help her drown her sorrows, with new recruit Shirley along for the ride. At the very same time, Olivert and Mueller are there for one last night out, now that the Vanders have been removed from their positions as bodyguards of the Imperial Family. Also at the same time, Irina is there to conduct business with someone, with Sharon and Alisa (who is learning the ropes of the company) accompanying her.

Long story short, one thing leads to another, and a Erebonia vs. Ouroboros dance battle ensues.

This does technically adhere to canon, in that it follows from canon events, but other than that, anything goes, really. For example, I don't know if Heimdallr has nightclubs in canon, but it does here.

Sure, just dial up the crack factor. This could be the Trails of Cold Steel: Dancing All Night fic we never knew we wanted.

While we're on the Trails bandwagon, I have an idea I'll temporarily call "A Bright Light in Darkness". A mysterious young woman shows up at the Hamlet's tavern one day, asking if anyone has seen a young man with black hair and amber eyes. The Heir recruits her into his band of adventurers. "The Bracer", as the young woman is now known, has to brave the horrors of the Darkest Estate in order to reunite with her boyfriend and return to her homeworld.
