Shang Tsung remembered the battle. He was glad to have formed his alliance with Sec. He knew he'd need every ally he could get in order to stop Zod. He only hoped he could have snapped up Azula into his allegiance. He would have recruited Maleficent as well, but she seemed to have disappeared.
If there was one thing the sorcerer knew about deadly alliances, it was that they tended to fall apart fast. He knew he would need at least three allies to oppose Zod. He would also need to ensure his counter-alliance didn't fall apart before it could finish the job of terminating Zod.

It had two purposes; cementing the loyalty of the princess by assigning her a task of great personal importance to me, and eliminating my troublesome offspring without fear of reprecussions from... those who would take offense. Or so I thought. I did not expect that self-righteous buffoon and his minions to react in such an absurd way. Why should they care for the plight of a potentially hostile alien?
