There's definite edge, but some of it goes down and Velvet turns into The Woobie throughout the course of the plot.

Velvet is the typical "Edgy MC" character that's done right. She suffers lots during the story itself, does care about people and doesn't go on edgy murder sprees except against the people who deserve, feels bad when killing people she sympathizes with, and goes through with her revenge till the end instead of being wishy washy or an angsty crybaby.

This does make loads of sense though cause she's a mass of Malevolence based on Velvet the person.

Also plenty of brutal deaths. Moana the plant Daemon eats her Daemon turned Mom during her berserker state.

And most of the Exorcists are dicks so they deserve it.

I would have preferred if her corpse was just being animated by Malevolence and her sheer rage. would have worked very well with Inomata's very zombie-like concept art. Ah well.

So can I ship Velvet and my Renegade Ludger then? Or not since she's not maximum edgelord asshat?

Wow, that's amazing. I'm gonna doubt that Japanese fans try to give Ludger their own characterization though, since even Namco gave up on the half-assed Heroic Mime shit in crossovergames.

Giving an RPG character a personality is more of a Western RPG thing, isn't it? Then again, so is having your RPG character be a Heroic Mime in the first place.

Yeah but most western RP Gs lean towards having Heroic Mimes so players can better meld themselves with their character. And up til Ludger and aside from Radiant Mythology, Tales games never had Heroic Mimes.

and like I always say, Ludger's a half-ass Commander Shepard running on a half-assed Choice system that stops meaning anything except relationship values later on.

And yesh I know Shepard isn't a Heroic Mime him or herself, but even if Ludger can fight like a krogan or run like a leopard, he'll never be better than Commander Shepard.

Because Xillia 2 was experimentation only not even all the way, it was just someone goofing off playing Mass Effect 3 and Baba saw it and thought "I GOT AN IDEA FRIENDS"

x7 That would have been harder I feel because everyone she eats still lives on inside her so having her be the person would probably have her go insane. Also it does make sense because she gets tossed into the Innominat Sacrificial Pit alongside Laphicet, Celica, and Phi. They are reincarnated as non-human beings so she wouldn't be an exception.

She already almost went insane after The Reveal. I dunno, a zombie protagonist just sounds cool.

So the twist is that Velvet is the same thing as 'Alex Mercer' was.

A lot of people have been comparing Berseria to Berserk, and Velvet to Guts. Kind of like how Tempest is essentially Tales of Fullmetal Alchemist.

Because she's still inside Velvet I believe along with all those dragons.
