[up][up] & [up] Takers, Giftbreakers and Soulwardens sound kinda specific.

They're great names for specialized units used by said faction, though! =D

The Equalists?

...No, wait, that's already taken. (-__-') How about the Libra Order?

[up](Something) Order actually sounds like a good name for the magical faction. Thanks for the idea!

I currently decided on "Xenobreakers" as they dislike the "strangers" who suddenly appeared on the planet and thus want to "break" them.

Real-life suggests that such a movement would be claiming to defend or protect their people against the newcomers, so you might be able to go with something on those lines. And of course, the nickname on the street for them might end up differently from their official name.

[up]True. They need a non-intimidating street name.

[up][up]Libra Order sounds nice for their "name on the street", but that would mean two factions with the name order.

Libra Guard sounds good for a street name, and it doesn't sound dangerous. Thanks =D

In the days before they were classified as a hate group, Ku Klux Klan chapters would call themselves the "Knights of" wherever. You could go with that.

[up] I agree with something like this. Rarely even hate groups go with too aggressive names, since that might scare off potential members. And it might come off a bit too much like a Card-Carrying Villain. There's a reason factions like this have names like "Ku Klux Klan" and "Golden Dawn" rather than "The Eradicators of Ethnically Unworthy Scum"

[up][up] Yeah I think the Knight thing can work too. For bonus point you can have all the members if your Antimagical Faction look like Black Knights and the Gifted look like witches, wizards, Magical Girls, druids, etc. Basically use the Sword vs Sorcery theme to your advantage.

[up], [up][up], [up][up][up] Building on the knights of thing... lets see... they want to stick to their "old" tradition of science.

Would Knights of Tradition sound good?

[up]The mage-looking guys would be the anti-human faction, the Chosen Order.

It sounds kind of silly to have their highest value in their name like that. I think most chivalric orders would be named after something more concrete that symbolises that value - a place (Knights Templar), a person (Knights of Saint John), a thing (Knights of the Lion), or a duty (Knights Hospitaller).

[up] Well You can go with Knights of Westboro for the place angle. The WBC take their adherence to traditional (Christian) values to strawman levels too...

But that wouldn't work unless you're using it as an allegory for LGBT issues

Maybe Knights of the Atom, or Knights of Materia (as in the Material plain, where I'm assuming the Gifted would get their power from a spiritual plain)?

I think I should have explained earlier... the Anti-magic faction come from a heavy sci-fi planet. The Gifted were recently introduced via extradimensional magical beings having children with the humans.

The anti-magic faction hate the Gifted because their powers would make technology obsolete, and also because the older Gifted eat human souls- they're killing the human population slowly.

[up][up]Neither the anti-magic nor the anti-human faction are good. The good guys want harmony between the Gifted and humans.

[up]The anti-magic faction does it by killing Gifted, including their children. Plus most of the Gifted aren't bad, and don't kill the people- they only take a portion of the souls. Either that or they join the army so that when the planet is under invasion threat they get to kill "guilty" people and take their souls.

Maybe I'll post each side's motives.

Seems more like a grey-and-gray vampire hunters versus tragic vampires who will inevitably become unsafe situation.

Knights of Planet Science seems pretty straightforward though. (KOPS for short! :P) Given the origin of the Gifted, if the Knights have any religious affiliation whatsoever I imagine they'd call them Nephilim, or to a less-religious extent Cambions.

EDIT: Ninja'd but now I can claim prescience.

[up]KOPS sounds great!

They may not call the Gifted Nephilim though... The humans are Human Aliens not from Earth and do not have Earth religions.

[up] So? angels are commonly depicted as Winged Humanoids and odds are that very few actually know what they actually look like/are.

Also "Nephilim" is useful in an Appeal to Religion strawman gambit sort of thing, and would be used in a propaganda campaign to get the people approval for their genocide. (Thought I must point out that they also must have similar campaigns for other religions and that it might be different; if you're setting this anywhere but 'murica, but at the very least it can be used as their designation for the Gifted [and subsequently a Fantastic Slur])

[up]Nephilim would make a good slur if the humans find out about religion from another planet (considering their space-traveling and trade, that could work). Current slurs I thought of are "monster", and if the humans manage to learn more religion, "demons".

What would be a good name for a weapon that's basically a large drill at the end of a long pole with a button/pull cord that activates said drill?

One of my game concepts had a similar weapon, and I had names like Pulver Lances, Drillances for them.

Oh wait. I think I know one:

Spiral Lance?

[up] Yeah Spiral lance or Spiral Spear might be good option (Though I think one of them only refers to the conical variants used in jousting matches), Uisng swirl in place of spoiral might work as well.

This is currently a hypothetical thing right now, but I want to know if "Apocalogenesis" would be a good title for The Beginning of the End or if it would butcher the words too much (particulary the Apocalo- prefix since Apocalypse can mean Revelation or unveiling and didn't seem to refer to the end of the world until after The Bible came out, then again I'm almost certain that the term apocalypse didn't exist until the bible anyway)?

[up][up] As a potential alternative, what about "Finigenesis"? I think that that should legitimately translate as "origin of the end"—although my construction may very well be far off.
