I am making a villain for a Gundam Seed Destiny fanfic (I admit its a bit of a fix fic), who essentially made a mobile suit to specifically counter Kira's machines. How should I describe this, and how should she go about this counter.

Well knowing what this mech actually does would probably help people give you advice about it.

now lets hear it. How do I make a logical counter to these God Mode Sues. Step 1, I already used my author powers to take away Kira's plot armor.

Step 2...lets hear some troper ideas for a mobile suit to counter Kira Yamato.

Well a cursory glance mentions that both of those mechs are designed primarily for long ranged combat. So give the opposing mech some good electronic countermeasures that make it hard to target. Play up how difficult it would be to hit a rapidly moving target with three dimensional movement using visuals alone.

good idea, I have mapped some ideas and mech designs. Yes, it does appear Kira relies almost totally on Beam Spam and long range attacks. Making targeting difficult will make it difficult, realistically, for him to win.

What about an incredibly speedy mech that relies on physical attacks? That way it would be able to dodge the beams, and also move in close to attempt a killing blow.

Good idea, that will be implemented in the design.

Kira is infamous for relying on Beam Spam, but has a fair measure of experience against people trying to get up-close-and-personal with him. Worse, the Freedom and Strike Freedom have highly sophisticated power-plants, meaning they can outlast just about anything on the battlefield. I recommend a bushwhacker mech - fast, stealthy, and packing heavy-duty anti-beam equipment like the old Forbidden Gundam's Geschmeidig Panzer system. Lure him into dense terrain, like a debris field or major city, and detonate some pre-prepared mines right in his face, then, in the split-second while he's reeling, dive in and rip his machine to pieces. Oh, and try to hit him from behind. Those Xiphias rail cannons his mechs pack will tear through your armour regardless of how fancy your anti-beam precautions are.

Finally, remember that the Ultimate Coordinator has had difficulty in dealing with multiple attacks at once before - see also, his issues with fighting the Providence Gundam's DRAGOON system. Maximise your close-range advantage by kitting your mech out with as many weapons as possible - hell, even make it Multi-Armed and Dangerous if you have to. Sure, he can block one sword-blow easily, but how about four simultaneously? Or six? Or eight? Those legs of yours are sure useless in space, aren't they? Wouldn't they be so much more helpful if you fitted them with a whole bunch of beam sabres? Try taking inspiration from 00's mighty Seravee Gundam, as well as the Gundam Exia's bewildering array of close-combat options.

Of course, you'd need an ungodly skilled pilot to handle a monster like that, but hey, that's the personnel department's problem. We just make the suits.

Have someone sabotage the beam rifles themselves and have them explode while the suit is in combat? Then draw it into close-range and have someone skilled at fighting with laser swords attack? Upload a virus into the suit's CPU? How dirty does your villain prefer to scheme and fight?

Laculus, thanks to your suggestions, the Schwartz Lorde has been completed, designated for use by Katherine Daille. The Schwartz Lorde is an intimidating prospect, quite taller than the average unit. Every bit of it is covered with powerful armor designed with the the purpose of repelling attacks. The arms have positron deflector shields embued, so Beam Spam will prove to be less effective. In the palm of the Schwartz Lorde's hands, it is armed with a high energy beam cannon, and the knuckles have the Gouf model's knuckle guns built in.

The chest has two more high energy beam cannons, specifically, two cannons on the waist, and another is built into the head.

This machine is not just designed for long range combat, and it has two beam sabers ready in each of its claws. It has four arms, two more coming out of the mid lower chest.

Best part? This machine has two forms. One of its forms is a flying dragon looking Mobile Armor that is more of a Bushwhacker, and the second is its devil like appearance befitting the title of Schwartz Lorde, which is a Steamroller. Despite the appearance, the Schwartz is quite fast.

Due to relationships formed with another pilot, a dedicated Bushwhacker will always join the fight when able.

As for the pilot, Miss Katherine is quite vicious, driven, and has dedicated her training as a ZAFT Ace to bringing down "that naive boy who thinks nothing of the fact he ruined me." One thing that may or may not work to her advantage is that Katherine makes Katejina Loos look downright nice.

ZAFT, huh? Makes sense. They tend to go for reliable, well-rounded suits.

If it was the Earth Alliance designing a Freedom-killer, it'd be this utterly insane, hyper-specialised affair that does the job spectacularly well and then falls apart thirty seconds later... shortly followed by its pilot. I'd bet on zero ranged weapons, reactor capacity stretched way beyond safe limits, a drugged-to-the-eyeballs artificial Coordinator at the helm, and enough assorted blades to give the cast of Machete a collective heart attack.

what do you think of the Schwartz? How will it + the pilot do realistically?

Looks like a pretty capable machine, and far from just being a threat to Kira himself. Would still need to fight dirty to take out a Freedom-type suit - Mr. Yamato's had plenty of experience with dealing with Lightning Bruiser mechs, and letting the battle drag out would be a death sentence - but with brains, positioning, and prep time, it stands a pretty good chance of making God bleed.

One thing you might want to do is give it an Achilles' Heel for people who aren't Kira to exploit. After all, I'm presuming that you want this thing taken out at some point, and the series's premier mech would be in no fit state to handle it. The obvious solution is making it a resource-hog. With all the offensive and defensive systems it's packing, it can probably only fight for a little while before its power-plant starts running out of juice. Letting its lunatic Complete Monster of a pilot wear herself out trying to kill you.

On an unrelated, aesthetic note, though, I would like to see more sane, competent female Anti Villains in Gundam stories. They all seem to be ineffectual, Ax-Crazy, or utterly, monstrously evil, whilst the guys get folks like Norris Packard, Andy Waltfeld, and the nicer Char-clones. Just a minor gripe.

Schwartz really, really does not perform as good when fighting two people at once. Katherine needs Ashail around to keep people off and let her go crazy.

And yeah, in my plans, Katherine's unique personality actually bewilders Kira. He...really does not have experience dealing with pilots who are in their right mind, but are still violent psychos.

In the first battle, yeah, Katherine runs it down, but gets a power plant upgrade from Ashail for the following fights.

As for fighting dirty, how does constantly aiming for a disabled civilian shuttle sound? Katherine practically makes it a tactic to always fight dirty. From faking a nervous breakdown, to a fake confession that Durandal brainwashed her, all the way to letting Kira try to set up Beam Spam on Ashail...and then coming up from beneath for a quick attack.

Since your lady clearly doesn't have any ethical objection to it, dirty fighting is sensible. You've got a highly capable multi-role suit there, but against Kira Yamato, an ambush is really your only hope. As such, any bait that would serve to lure him into an appropriate killzone is acceptable, whether it be information, hostages, or a crippled ally. Any bait that won't do that is best forgotten about.

Of course, Option B if you're really not fussy about how to get rid of him is sniping him with a high-powered railgun from half a mile away when he's out of his suit. SEED mode or not, he literally wouldn't see it coming. Or hear it, since the bullet would be faster than its own sound-wave.

Back in the realm of mech combat, though, another useful system is the Blitz Gundam's Mirage Colloid armour, which can make you effectivly undetectable for a short length of time. Only drawback is that you can't use most of your defensive systems when it's up, but it's great for lying in wait for your victim until he's in weapons range.

[up][up] Is it sad that a What the Hell, Hero? moment popped into my head while reading this? I just imagined Kira fighting this chick, seeing that she's aiming for the civilian shuttle, and doing nothing when she fires, except keep an unphased expression on his face...

Totally out of character for him, but my mind works strangely. cool

Anyway, I like how you have this gundam laid out. Something I would love to have a model of, that's for sure. Not only is it a Lightning Bruiser, but a well rounded and devastating one at that. Great job!

The problem with Katherine that could let the good guys win, is that she is insane. She thinks Kira disarms people because he thinks they should wallow in the despair that they are inferior. And when he returns after getting, yanno, impaled by Impulse, Katherine says this leap of logic, "Th-that cannot be Kira Yamato...It isn't! Hahahahahahahahahahahaha! It is not! Its definitely just Lacus Clyne pretending to be Kira!"

This quality of hers gets worse. Unlike Rey's sudden deterioration, you get a long view of her slowly losing it.
