I think all the post movie has gone a bit too far.

Weather you like it or, not there's no need to make debate over it

HOLD IT!

Debate is never a necessity. It's merely an alternate form of entertainment. Besides, the point of this forum is to observe the differences between Old and New Spongebob and find the reasons behind those differences. Are there any patterns in the show that started with New Spongebob? Was there something taken away from Old Spongebob? Whether New Spongebob is good or bad is a matter of opinion, but everyone has to admit that the differences are there.

I do admit there are differences, but being different, or using a different way to entertain, is not really a bad thing.

Sorry, it's just that tons of spongebob hating trolls have invaded this wiki I go on, so I'm a little defensive of the yellow guy

HOLD IT!

Now don't get me wrong, I love Spongebob. I wish for nothing more than to enjoy watching new Spongebob episodes again. I refuse to give up on the show until it's inevitably cancelled. IMO, the biggest mistake New Spongebob is making is they seem to be making Spongebob annoying to the viewer, and it's one of those things where it just keeps getting worse. Also, while Old Spongebob was far from having perfect continuity, New Spongebob has NO continuity whatsoever. However, these things are just baseless conjecture without hard evidence. That brings me back to the point of this thread.

[up][up] Disliking, or even hating, the show and expressing it when someone else brings the theme up is not trolling.

[up][up][up] OBJECTION!!

I am a fan of both old and new Spongebob. Both have had episodes that made me laugh and episodes that made me angry.

The Paper is bad however for being basically 1 not-so funny gag repeated for 11 minutes. Boating Buddies is bad for the change of Spongebob's character from a slightly irritating neighbor to a EXTREMELY creepy stalker.

TAKE THAT!

[up] HOLD IT!

Those are very valid points. It seems the biggest complaint with The Paper is that it just seems like a big Idiot Plot, while Boating Buddies amped Spongebob's annoying level Up To Eleven. I would like to point out that both episodes used the same "Squidward denies something he said and his words get replayed for him," but it was handled differently each time. So which episode did the better job in that respect?

[up] HOLD IT!!

Despite my spite towards Boating Buddies for the almost Unfortunate Implications of turning Spongebob into a creepy homosexual stalker I say it has more funny moments than The Paper's 1 not so funny gag so Boating Buddies is the better episode.

Let's name some funny moments then. Either episode. As many as you want.

Hah easy Mr. Mario. The scene in which Spongebob drives wildly and hijinks ensue along with this scene

Spongebob: Coffee rain!

Squidward: It's Chocolate

Spongebob: Chocolate Rain!

Might as well quote someone from a Spongebob fansite

"Admittedly, some of the writing is formulaic now and then, and certain story lines have merely had the characters running in circles for eleven minutes, but I'm 'round about done with the critical eye toward Spongebob or similar cartoons. It's not really worth my energy to fret about the quality of certain episodes. If I don't like them, I don't need to watch them. If I enjoy them, I do; and trust me, it's a lot nicer to just enjoy things for their positive qualities than obsessing over the negative."

[up] You know Robbie I do agree with you. Most of the time I can find positive qualities in episodes I hate.

The mermaid short in Legends of Bikini Bottom is not one of those sadly. I have sworn to never watch that episode again though.

Ah yes, the meme reference was clever on the writers' part. As far as Spongebob's driving hijinx go, I felt most of it was decent, but the mailman and the shrink ray thing was just too strange. Let's change gears. Let's switch the comparison to Boating Buddies and New Student Starfish. These two have similar premises, so they should work better for comparison.

-bows like Edgeworth-

Too easy.

[up] TAKE THAT!

While Boating Buddies has really long gags to the point of Filler and has Character Derailment New Student Starfish has the characters as they were at the beginning, multiple quick gags, and the main plot itself is humorous.

New Student Starfish, no contest.

I would have to completely agree with the above statements. Boating Buddies seems to contradict everything about New Student Starfish. Spongebob didn't spend all of class staring and breathing at Patrick all day, he was known to have excellent behavior in class, he never even said the phrase "Boating Buddies", and the entire atmosphere of the episode felt infinitely more realistic.

Also, a better example for comparison may be Artist Unknown.

TAKE THAT!

Spongebob's reaction alone to being in class with Squidward between the two episodes is solid evidence of Character Derailment.

Why now that was a great showing of evidence. I have no contradictions to this info.

So anyone got a good episode of New Spongebob to use for evidence?

TAKE THAT!

I personally liked Krusty Towers as far as humor goes. I think it provided a steady stream of laughs similar to that of an Old Spongebob episode. I believe my favorite scene was Patrick checking in. Then of course, the scene with Mrs. Tentacles was priceless.

Perfect!

This is a choice I'd agree with! Now clarify other than The Paper does Old Spongebob have bad episodes? I want to see if it has a close enough ratio.

The Bully and Spongebob meets the Strangler are funny and amusing episodes with a few different Crowning Moment Of Funny going around.

The scene in which Spongebob gives Flats flowers only to be told he'll still be beaten up is great.
