Funi has revealed a shorter trailer for the film as well as the lineup for the theatre screenings in America.
But on my shore the DVD/Blu-Ray release is on the 19th March
Wow, that is quite harsh if true.
I gotta say, the theory that Shinji didn't cause Near TI and is just being used as a scapegoat by WILLE to place all their problems on does sound pretty interesting. It would be a dark parallel to his actions.
Course, they could all just be doing this:
You just used a song from The Book of Mormon on an EVA thread.
I think I've seen everything now
Well to you too

@Napoleon De Cheese: Sounds a lot like what I heard about Lost.
I gotta agree, based on impressions at least. In fact, Mari is the only one not out of Anno's psyche, so is it just coincidence that she's also the one with so little characterisation?
Working on a manga. With pictures! All feedback welcome! If she's not out of Anno's psyche....where did Mari come from then? Executive Meddling seems difficult to believe considering it's not like they needed another character. Relatively speaking, she got more characterization than as the guy who's role she took(Toji). It's pretty clear his psyche changed between the original and Rebuild.
God, Wille is justified in their hatred of Shinji. He ended the goddamn world. Point blank. If you can't see that you're a child who doesn't realize actions have consequences regardless of intent.

These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.On the other hand, he didn't have that much info, and it was either awaken the hidden powers of Unit 01 or die and let the rest of humanity die after Zeruel's attack.
"Hipsters: the most dangerous gang in the US." - Pacific MackerelThat's insubstantial. You can't expect people who've lived through 15 years of the hell he created to be sympathetic to his situation.
I'm sorry; I don't think this is a perfect movie myself, there is too much dead air in the second act which leads to Acts 1 and 3 being too compressed, but I still loved the thematicism of it and deconstructing the idea that Shinji was a badass at the end of 2.0.

These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.@L Dragon Yeah, according to some guy on tumblr, they replace the "Shinji you won't be doing anything." line with that.
I'd say there treatment towards Shinji is somewhat understandable than outright justified.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. In all honesty, I don't even think Shinji was even aware on what he was doing.
I don't exactly have that much sympathy for WILLE. Yes, they lived through 14 years of that stuff, but I also expect them to change and mature over those years, not still act like emotional teenagers. They should have at least informed Shinji first and not have strapped a fricken bomb collar on him.
And again, they were the ones who cheered him on, so they have to at least acknowledge that they were partly to blame for the incident as well, instead of tossing all of their guilt and blame on one person who was simply trying to do what was right and save his friend.
See, this is where I'm gonna have to disagree. Themes mean nothing if it causes the story to suffer, and I felt that it did. These characters are, frankly, idiots, all in the name of deconstructing Shinji's actions. Yes, this works for shows like Madoka Magica because all the characters are young teenagers who are going through puberty and don't know better than to let emotions drive them. It does not work here, as they have had over a decade to grow and mature, yet they still act like immature teenagers.
Just because something has a theme doesn't make it good. Same reason I don't have as much respect for Spec Ops The Line or Bioshock Infinite.

They also had a decade of hell and hardships as well, you can't overlook that.
My opinion is that all the characters decision should've been handle better both on Wille and Shinji part. Because in the end of the day they both played role on what happen that lead to the third impact.
In short....giving teenagers(or anyone really) the ability to end the world and not telling them about it is a bad idea. Well, unless that's what you want to happen.
That is exactly what Gendo wanted to happen. Shinji isn't entirely responsible for the third impact. He just the one that happen to cause it, this scenario was all planned by Gendo.
While we're at it, let's not forget the people who approved and funded this plan.
They had other Eva's. Maybe you just shouldn't use the one that has a chance of reducing everyone to Tang? Especially after it evolves a few times? Ya think?

I think pretty much nobody except Gendo and Fuyutsuki know where SEELE is anyways since it's Nerv that Wille thinks is the enemy and not the Monoliths who come up with the schemes. Even the one in 3.0 was theirs that Gendo just hijacked.
Didin't notice I put 4 instead of 3.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession."4.0"?
"Please crush me with your heels Esdeath-sama!So even if Gendo planned all this... They still treat his son who just did that one thing like shit, hoping he won't crawl to him and help him further achieve his plan.
Yeah, WILLE, Frollo wants to speak to you guys.
At some points it just seems like Gendo is taking credit for shit because it ends up helping his agenda. Eva-01 did reject the dummy plug like the original when he wanted her to go out and fight it. Then he has to rely on Shinji when he comes back.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.I don't think Wille should be reprimand for not knowing they're on a short time table here. They don't know Not!Rei is gonna appear out of nowhere and steal away Shinji.
I'm sure Misato has guilt for enabling him (because she too admitted to being self-centered at the end of 2.0) but to her the times require hard steeliness. I think blaming Wille is an easy out to ignore the sins Shinji committed.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.I agree, Shinji does have some of the blame. I'm just saying that since WILLE also had a bit of a hand in it, that they shouldn't just throw all the blame on him.
So I heard in the english dub that Misato tells Shinji she doesn't care whether he lives or dies.
Yikes
