Nah, I think that japanophiles are just plain old "love another country's culture" like Teutonophiles and such. Wapanese are wannabes, and weaboos are slightly bigger losers in my dictionary.

He's strong enough due to training that he could beat the shit out of me. So I can't consider him a loser, even if he is obsessive.

You know, the word weeaboo was created on 4chan, where "wapanese" was filtered and would be replaced with "weeaboo" instead. And wapanese for japanese is just like wigger is for black culture.

Alright, japanophiles are obsessed with japanese culture and weeaboos think they are japanese. I believe both will think japanese is inherently superior, which is the point I'm getting at.

Sounds about right. And "weeaboo" is originally from Perry Bible Fellowship, 4chan adopted it. But you probably already knew that.

Strictly speaking, "Japanophile" (or "Nipponophile", which you don't seem to see used as often) doesn't mean that a person thinks Japanese culture is necessarily superior, just that they're enamoured of it. In that sense, it's no worse than Francophilia, Anglophilia, Americophilia, etc.

Convince him to learn Japanese. By most accounts, that should lead him to become disillusioned with Japanese dubs.

He's working on it. He has an app on his computer that lets him stream Japanese TV. He wants to move there even though he knows of the less savory aspects of the culture. I don't know why. Probably something to do with guns.

I feel really bad about talking about him behind his back, by the way, so I'm going to stop.
