I am also intrested in the DS port of {{Disgaea }}(now if someone just told me how to pronounce it...)
Ok, quick note: strangely, when you use the Wiki Word markup on the forums, don't make them wiki words. Leave the spaces in between words.
Update: After Meta4 made that avatars topic and saying where his come from, I will now be keeping up with Gunnerkrigg Court too. Thanks Meta ¬_¬
Gunnerkrigg Court, The Order Of The Stick, Girl Genius.
I'm now also curious about Death Note, Suzumiya Haruhi No Yuutsu, Avatar The Last Airbender, Lost and Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Also, the show rocks.

OK, thanks for the tip.
I've seen the first episode (which chronologically isn't first, but you know what I mean) and part of the second, and I'm curious about what happens next. Plus people keep mentioning it, so I figured it must have something going for it.

That's why I watched it. Just it being so overdosed.
Perdido Street Station and the related novels, also the Honor Harington books.
Yeah, I was introduced to Avatar and Yu-Gi-Oh TAS through this site, and I also became a lot more aware of what's out there, especially British shows like Doctor Who (I had no idea it was that old). On the other hand, I'd say I've actually had my opinion of anime soured by this wiki. I used to mostly just ignore it, but now I actively avoid it thanks largely to some of the scary obsessives I've seen on the wiki. I just don't like insular fandoms much, and thanks to a few incidents on the site I've become aware of how deep the rabbit hole goes for some people, and it scares me a little. I still have trouble believing that grown adults would write Pokemon Slash fic, but apparently they do. I'm just glad I've wisely stayed away from the Avatar fandom.

It's unfortunate, but rule 34 applies here. The solution is to not read fanfiction at all, and at least avoid fan art.
I haven't tried any new series yet from here but there are several I'm going to try and avoid now.

Very true. I like anime, but the online fandom scares me.
Ukrainian Red CrossIt's not really fair to blame the series for the excesses of its fans. Unless you're going to be consistent and avoid Harry Potter because of the shipping wars, and Star Trek because of Vulcan weddings, and Star Wars because of those British dorks who put "Jedi" as their religion on the census.

Oh, and Metal Gear Solid. Snaaaake!
Oh, and I would never have heard of Avatar And The Airbending Fellowship Of Vampire Slayers without this. It's funny, it's such a good show (the only example of So Terriblistic It's Awesometacular I've ever seen, in fact), but I can't seem to find any info about it anywhere beside TV Tropes (well, except for on youtube, where I watch it sometimes).

Oh, and the wiki introduced me to, and after half a year of examples convinced me to finally watch, Death Note.
Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages?Meta4 wrote:
- I avoid Harry Potter because of... what was it called again? Ah, Hype Aversion sounds right. - Star Trek is for the previous generation (pun intended, if you can find it). - And the British weren't the only ones; 70,000 Australians did, and 1.5% of New Zealanders did too.

No, no it's not, but that's like saying it's not fair to hate the beach because you hate getting sunburned. It may not be the beach's fault you don't put on enough sunblock, but that doesn't make the burn hurt any less. Don't get me wrong, this site has done an excellent job of showing me the strange, sometimes horrifying, innards of a lot fandoms I used to think were just a little weird, and given me valuable perspective on ones I used to think were much worse than they are (the gulf between how Furries see themselves and how the rest of us see them, for instance, is so huge that I'm not sure it can be expressed in Euclidean space). All in all, I'd say it's been a good experience, but it has soured me a little. I could go on, but I'd rather not derail the thread any more than I have. It would be pretty hypocritical given I'm the one who wrote Left-Fielder in the first place.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand, this wiki also introduced me to Gunnerkrigg Court (although I seem to have lost interest in it lately), as well as a bunch of other webcomics that turned out to be pretty bad. I still can't believe I Archive Binged Schlock Mercenary in one weekend, but lost interest as soon as I had to wait for content.

I had to go and watch Gargoyles after reading the Xanatos Gambit page.
The repeated mentions of Avatar the Last Airbender have piqued my interest somewhat, although I'm hesitant to watch any episodes online (if there are any) for fear of what I might be getting myself into.

I want to see Serial Experiments Lain and Neon Genesis Evangelion now, but haven't. I also replayed Earthbound after years of dormancy, so thanks for that!

Me too. I fully intend to check out Gargoyles after I get through Tokyo Mew Mew. Oh yeah, I discovered Tokyo Mew Mew.
As for Avatar, I'd recommend watching it. Just try to avoid the fandom and you'll be fine.
