No, that last episode just sucked. I was picking it apart before the credits even started rolling. It was definitely the worst one since "The Beach" (nothing is worse than "The Beach")

In slightly more alarming news, it appears that a comic book adaptation of the finale (that is targeted at a younger age group) will be published this month(the 20th). Well, good-bye internet.

You'll have to pre-spoil it for yourself. Read the finale before the internets can spoil it.

Oh no, I just ran Iroh through the Sorting Algorithm of Mortality. Here are the results: Age: Older and Wiser (5) Orientation: Straight (3) Role: The Obiwan! (5) Aesthetics: Fat (4) (at least he's not ugly) Personality: Jerk with a heart of gold, sort of (~3) Flaws: Fell Astray (4) Virtues: Smart (3) Species: Human (3) Occupation: This is a tricky one. He's either are military commander (4) or a super hero (1). Total: between 31 and 34 divided by 9 (I skipped race and love interest because they didn't seem appropriate) that puts him somewhere between 3 (average lifespan) and 3.5 below average lifespan. Add in some things the sorting algorithm hasn't considered, like that the show is ending and someone is probably going to get killed (and it won't be the kids), and the picture becomes pretty bleak. Admittedly, this is a kid's show, so they might not actually kill him, but I'll bet you anything we'll see a cliffhanger with Zuko cradling a fallen Iroh before this show is over.

Why wouldn't they kill him? They never had qualms with killing people before. I could easily see him coming forward to pound some faces and perform a heroic sacrifice sometime around the finale. That'd leave Aang free to take out Ozai and Zuko to seriously injure (if not outright kill) Azula.

Well yeah, that's a distinct possibility, but that's a lot of violence and this is a kid's show. Besides, I'm not sure they want to give it a total downer ending.

Plus Iroh, not Zuko, is the rightful successor to Fire Lord. Granted, Iroh would probably make Zuko his successor, but skipping Iroh would give Ozai a victory in the messed-up-the-natural-order sense.

  • has been spoiled utterly on the ending, by her own request*

AIIIII I KNOW WHATS GONNA HAAAAAAAAPEN.

And All I want to say is HA HA to certain vocal shippers who try to make a lovely girl out to be a heartless bitch, cause FUCK YEAH SHE GETS THE GUY. yes. ok. That doesn't confirm ANYTHING as cannon except that there is one canon het ship. so no one is really spoiled.

Wow, that post is almost everything I'd expect in a spoiler troll. It wasn't that bad, but the gloating is the cherry on top.

Wasn't that bad? It was vague, had all caps for no good reason, and stretched out vowel sounds. How could a spoiler post get worse than that?

Except I didn't spoil anything. It was vague for that reason, I didn't want to post ANY "Sozin's Comet" spoilers, episodes are one thing, but the early comic with series ending material is another. The gloating was just that, gloating. You've seen the shipping wars in this fandom, haven't you? The occasional "neenerneenerneener" when your ship wins big isn't that odd. And I had to post SOMEWHERE that mentioning a ship wouldn't be a spoiler itself coming from me. You guys don't know my ships.

Eh, I was just being difficult. It had the tone of a spoilerish post, but not the content. Sorry.

I just had to get SOMETHING out there before I exploded was all. Looks like I kinda exploded anyways.

Ok so between ruining my life, T Vtropes has gotten me hooked on the seris, now does anyone have any idea why the reruns on Nicktoons network restart at the first episode after the season 2 finale?

Not sure. Have episodes beyond that premiered on N Ick yet? If not, I'd chalk it up to Executive Meddling.

I don't see any reairing of season three episodes scheduled.

If they really won't show the right episodes, you can buy the DVD, or watch one of the many illicit videos floating the internets, if you know where to look (protip: use google!). Also, does anyone know what's up with Nickelodian? In the fall, they were calling Avatar one of their flagship shows, now they won't release episodes. Did the producers run over someone's dog?

You know why I love this series? Even though I just watched the (awesome) trailer, I still have absolutely no idea how this is going to end. At the moment , everything seems possible to my mind- which is probably the best way to be, unless you're into shipping...

That's true for me now. I have a feeling that there might be a Heroic Sacrifice, but I really have no obvious ending in my mind.

I think the episodes are on Turbo Nick. I've checked a schedule that goes to next week, and the only season three episodes are airing on Nick Toons (even then, it's only one new episode a week). The Awakening was just on, and The Headband will be on in a few days.

I don't watch the series, but I was bouncing around the internet and ended up on the Avatar wiki.

I read the page for Lu Ten, son of Iroh, and found it interesting (but not for the reason written here). But, I need to get my facts straight.. Now we know Iroh is the elder son. I am assuming Iroh is in his fifties or sixties and Ozai is in his thirties or forties. I base this mostly on their looks. I don't find this odd since, I am myself twenty years older than my youngest sibling.

Now running backwards in time, think of the approximate time of birth for Lu Ten and Ozai. If Iroh fathered Lu Ten in his early twenties or younger, then it is possible for Lu Ten to be older than Ozai, and improbable for Lu Ten to be significantly younger.

Is my reasoning correct?

Well the picture we saw of Lu Ten looked like he was in his late twenties and was at least six years old, so that doesn't seem too far off.

Must have been an interesting conflict between Lu Ten and Ozai, then. Lu Ten being the (indirect) heir to the Fire Lord and young enough to be a brother, but still a deference owing nephew. What is the proper etiquette there?

Anybody notice in the episode "The Drill" how unbelievably phallic that thing was? Normally I try to avoid this, by my god!

ALSO: What is it about this show that older people like? I can't place my finger on it, yet I've got all the seasons

Well, the action is almost always top-notch, the philosophical side is pulled off really well, and the dialogue doesn't make me cringe like most other animated series.
