- Adorkable: Saebyeok, with her Cloud Cuckoo Lander and Wide-Eyed Idealist psyche.
- Arc Fatigue: People have said that this hit the show badly, due to it running for almost 180 episodes.
- Big-Lipped Alligator Moment:
- Taepung and Saebyeok's subplot in episode 38 involved a lot of Gratuitous Foreign Language. Why, exactly, is never explained.
- In episode 55, Dongsoo and Sunjeong pull a few bottles of beer out of a river. It's never explained why the hell there's bottles/cans of beer in the river.
- Dancing Bear: The show was heavily advertised for having Yoona in her first lead acting role.
- Fridge Horror: In episode 40, Hwaran says that Soyeong got pregnant by being tricked by the wrong guy, which grimly insinuates that Yunhui may have been a product of a rape. Even more chilling when one takes into consideration the scene in episode 15 where a guy comes onto Soyeong aggressively.
- Fridge Logic:
- In episode 55, once it gets pitch-black dark during the treasure hunt, there's still light wherever Saebyeok goes, which is obviously geographically impossible.
- In the above episode, she hurts her ankle after tripping and falling. In episode 57, she's still limping, but is seen running perfectly fine at the end of the episode.
- Jerkass Woobie: Taepung; initially, he only treats Saebyeok badly because of the sadness conjured from when he thinks of Nayeong.
- Just Here for Godzilla: A majority of people watching the show are probably there to see Yoona of SNSD in her first lead role.
- Narm: Yeongsuk's Freak Out in episode 7 borders on this, with her emotional outbursts and subsequent collapsing to the floor as well as her Despair Event Horizon crossing all coming across as semi-wangsty.
- Nightmare Fuel:
- The firecracker accident in which Saebyuk lost her eyesight. The lack of details makes it all the more frightening to imagine, especially when she words it as saying that she lost her eyes in the accident.
- After her FaceāHeel Turn in episode 32, Subin's demented, wide-eyed stare whenever she sees Saebyeok is extremely creepy to look at.
- At the end of episode 52, Saebyeok ends up sleeping on the bus and winds up at the last stop, at an empty, remote place. As if that wasn't scary enough, a creepy man approaches her, tells her no one is coming for her, and aggressively grabs her wrists asking to have a little fun. Thankfully, Hosae arrives, but that brings up the worst part of it all: what would that man have done to Saebyeok had Hosae not arrived (in time)?
- Episode 55 ends with Saebyeok alone in a pitch-black forest, terrified, and with a hurt ankle.
- Episode 67 has Yeongsuk being violently attacked by a robber in Saebyeok's apartment. Thank God that Saebyeok showed up, because who knows what would've happened to Yeongsuk.
- Episode 69 has Subin trying to kill Saebyeok with her car.
- She Really Can Act: Yoona. Especially if she has to cry. Thankfully, she was recognized for her work — out of the 7 awards the show won, 5 of them belonged to her.
- Sweet Dreams Fuel: The theme song, Yang Sun Min's "Geudae Joah". It's one of the sweetest damn songs you'll ever listen to.
- Tear Jerker: See here.
- The Woobie:
- Yeongsuk after hearing about Nayoung's fate.
- Saebyeok, who practically got the short end of the stick her whole life. She grew up in an orphanage without a real family and wound up homeless and poor as a result of Bukjo, which makes her acceptance into the Kim family all the sweeter.
- Soyeong, after hearing about how she had Yunhui in high school and had to shut off herself from everyone around her.
- Woolseyism: In flashbacks, the past scenes will have their captions noticeably paraphrased.
