• Alternative Character Interpretation: Joey, instead of being a ‘dumb blond,’ is instead portrayed as a smart overachiever that pretends to be dumb and over analyzes things.
• Fridge Horror: Joey gives us an in-verse scenario. He sympathises with Sofen's old student patients because if Sofen was showing uncomfortable interest in him, then what about them ? He even refers to them as victims.
• No Yay: Between Karla and Joey, and the latter is disturbed by it as well. The former is the school's counsellor, and the latter is a 15 year old student. Joey freaks out even more when Karla calls him "such a pretty boy" and kisses him.
• Ron the Death Eater: Alexis, canonically a Nice Girl, is depicted here as a snobby Alpha Bitch.
• Starboarding: In-verse example, and a while a twisted one, it makes perfect sense in Andrea Rourke's mind. Téa->Joey? No. Alexis->Joey? Yes. But to Andrea both girls like Joey and eventually tries to Murder the Hypotenuse, even when one of them insists she doesn't like Joey.
