YMMV / The Mandalorian S2E1 "Chapter 9: The Marshal"

Go To

  • Accidental Innuendo: This exchange between Din Djarin and Cobb Vanth definitely raised some eyebrows. It Makes Sense in Context, but it also sounds a lot like the intro to a gay porno (especially with Pedro Pascal delivering Din's lines in a voice he's admitted sounds "strangely like a bedroom voice?"):
Din: Take it off. Or I will.
Cobb: We gonna do this in front of the kid?
    Din: He's seen worse.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Cobb Vanth, for being a humble sheriff-type character, to the point that some viewers even hoped Mando would let him keep Boba's armor. Also doesn't hurt that his Emmy-nominated actor had previously done a great bunch of well-liked sheriff roles, and it was enough to have some fans smitten. The fans weren't the only ones smitten either; Katee Sackhoff and Ash Crossan referred to Vanth as a "space daddy" in an interview, expressing their admiration for the way his hips moved in the costume and how comfortable he was in the gunslinger role.
  • Ho Yay: Some interactions between the Mandalorian and Cobb Vanth, including the aforementioned Accidental Innuendo, feel very flirtatious.
  • Memetic Loser: Cobb Vanth is otherwise well-liked among fans, though this hasn't stopped jokes that he's a "Boba Fett cosplayer" and that he looked wimpy in Boba's armor.
  • Ugly Cute: The usually frightening-looking Massiffs are weirdly endearing once Mando befriends them: ugly as they are, they still act and sound exactly like friendly pet dogs.
