• Don't Shoot the Message: In Marcus's Why I Don't Like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure video rant, a lot of people agree with Marcus that certain franchises, no matter how popular they are, aren't everyone's cup of tea and fans shouldn't try to force it on them. The problem that many of them have, however, is that his rant makes him sound abrasive and condescending, not helped by the fact that several of his criticisms are glaring misconceptions which makes his grievances come off as bad faith.
• Fandom Rivalry: Fans of his channel have a very ugly one with MauLer fans, particularly due to Marcus and MauLer's differing opinions on some franchises such as the Star Wars prequel and sequel trilogies. Not helping matters is that MauLer has frequently criticised Marcus's content.
• Harsher in Hindsight: In his The Actual Best Spider-Man Game video, he mentions that his heart will stop if he listens to Stan Lee's narration in the game again if Stan dies. Stan Lee has unfortunately passed away in the same year.
• He Panned It, Now He Sucks!:
  • He tends to get a lot of hate from fans of the Star Wars prequels and Star Wars Rebels for his frequent dislike of them. In an inversion of this trope, these same fans also lash out at him for liking The Last Jedi.
  • One of his most down-voted videos was his review of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man Trilogy. He made a follow up in his review of The Amazing Spider-Man Series where he clarified that he doesn't hate them and actually loves them, he just feels that they're really corny (though this is part of why he enjoys them) and haven't aged well by the standards of modern superhero movies.
  • It got worse when he did his "Kingdom Hearts III - Why It Sucked" video. Not helped the video was made two weeks after the game's release, which some accused Marcus of simply doing it while the game was still getting immense buzz.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: In Marcus's Star Wars Rebels review, he says that Sabine "couldn't be more Mary Sue unless she was also Force-sensitive, which at this point, wouldn't even really surprise me." Ahsoka reveals that Sabine is weakly Force-sensitive, and is able to use telekinesis at the end of the series.invoked
• Memetic Badass: Marcus's video on Junkrat propelled the stinky Australian man into this status at the very least within the Cosmonaut fandom.
• Memetic Mutation:
  • "[X] - Why It Sucks"^Explanation The most recognizable series the channel is known for. Ask anybody about the channel and chances are they'll bring up Marcus' negative reviews of movies, which use the following title. It has also become a template for fake reviews following his style of thumbnail and title.
  • Marcus is Chicken Little^Explanation A lot of people have poked fun at Marcus's uncanny resemblance to Disney's version of Chicken Little, something that irks him.
  • Fans: "Were there any [X] students at Hogwarts?" Rowling: "Yes, [stereotypical name here], [house]." ^Explanation In Marcus' review of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, when covering J. K. Rowling's penchant for Retcons, he takes note of a fan's asking if there were any Jewish students at Hogwarts, which she confirms by pointing to Anthony Goldstein. Marcus remarks that it's the most stereotypical Jewish name he'd ever seen and (though mistakenly) concluded she simply invented the character to pretend her story always had diversity. Under the comments section of the video, many portray different variations of the conversation as a way to mock Rowling with hypothetical background characters.
  • "[X] is not a beloved character!" ^{Explanation (spoilers)}  In his defence of Joel being killed off in The Last of Us Part II, Marcus states that Joel is not a beloved character because of how many people he's killed throughout the games. Even though he was referring his statement in-universe, many have derided him for his comment. Many, particularly his detractors, use this quote in ironic fashion for characters like The Joker who are still beloved by fans despite being far from being good people.
• Never Live It Down: Fans of the Raimi Spider-Man Trilogy will always give Marcus flak for "hating" it, even though he states that he still enjoys them for what they are, including 3 in an ironic way.
