  • Complete Monster: Prince Ygal Delois from issues #53 & #54 is the commander of the military of planet Shiva IV and kinsman to its king, Aron Peacebringer. Secretly desiring both his cousin's throne and his beautiful wife Alisande, Ygal hatches a plot with Imperial General Sk'ar to unseat Aron and restart the thousand-year war that Aron had recently ended; the destabilized planet would then fall to the Empire, with Ygal ruling as king in Palpatine's name. Ygal atomizes the planet's second-largest city and everyone in it with an Imperial bomb, then spreads rumors blaming Aron for the deed; he also has another bomb primed to destroy the capital itself. Ygal goes as far as specifically requesting Sk'ar ensures that Aron and Alisande's children die, not wanting to put up with them when he forces her to marry him. Willing to kill millions to become a mere Puppet King, Ygal exemplifies the depths Palpatine's supporters are willing to plumb to gain favor with him.
  • Heartwarming in Hindsight: During the events of Annual 3, Vader consoles a Rebel wannabe named Flint whose mother was just killed.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • All of Leia's jealousy toward Shira, Dani, and any other woman who likes Luke, considering, you know...
    • One early annual, published before The Empire Strikes Back, features a character telling Luke that Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader saved his planet from destruction.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Go here.
  • Magnificent Bastard (issues 18-23, The Wheel arc): Master-Com was once one of many self-aware supercomputers in the Galaxy, but over a century of time, grew far beyond his programming. Installed to run every system aboard the spacegoing gambling palace The Wheel, Master-Com struck up an Odd Friendship with the station's administrator Simon Greyshade, expertly foiling a plot by Imperial Commander Strom to frame Greyshade for embezzlement. During this crisis he also met the Heroes of Yavin and was intrigued by their genuine camaraderie with droids. When Greyshade sacrificed himself to kill Strom, Master-Com took great pleasure in sabotaging the casino's systems to torment his Imperial-appointed successor, and when that administrator was felled by a sudden heart attack, took over the station himself. As suave as he was ruthless, Master-Com ran everything aboard the station from its slot machines to its gladiatorial arena with consummate flair for nearly a century afterwards. When he mysteriously vanished one day, he was missed by all who knew him.
  • Memetic Mutation: If Lando dies, I'll destroy your planet!
  • So Bad, It's Good: The series could get very campy on occasion. Remember, this was before most of the universe was defined.
  • Unintentional Period Piece: The comics can be easily dated into two periods, those being before and after Return of the Jedi in 1983, by way of who Luke is getting pushed towards - for most of its run, the writers were convinced that Luke and Leia were an Official Couple, going so far as to continue pushing them together even after The Empire Strikes Back put more focus on Leia getting together with Han. Obviously, Luke and Leia getting together presented issues when they were revealed to be brother and sister in RotJ, so the comic writers were forced to immediately push the brakes on that.
  • Vindicated by History: The character of Jaxxon was an Old Shame for many of the original Star Wars fans, and for a long time he was not even discussed, save for the occasional joke at his expense. But younger fans decided the idea of a talking rabbit smuggler was actually pretty cool; as such, he was restored to SW continuity in Star Wars Adventures.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not Political?: The Alliance has Luke work as a liaison to other anti-Imperial Rebels who have been fighting The Empire for 50 years, even falling in love with a girl who gets fridged, and then the revolution succeeds, but without the new king, they descend into anarchy. This was around the time of Iran-Contra.
  • The Woobie: Dani. Also Wedge in one particular issue.
