YMMV / My Story Animated

Go To

  • Cliché Storm: Many new videos become this. Teenage Pregnancy, Love Triangles, Main characters (mostly female) get together with the most popular kid in school, Abusive Parents / Parental Neglect, cheating, main characters becoming rich, famous and successful at the end, overused insults such as "witch" etc.
  • Less Disturbing in Context: Chichi from "I'm A Gold Digger, I Married A Tree For Its Money" has her husband killed by arranging for him to have a car accident. But this isn't as bad as it sounds, since said "husband" is a potted plant.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • "I wanted to be yeeted into a hole!"Explanation
    • "A girl who's gone completely insane."Explanation
  • Narm: "I Came To Earth To Give My Body To A Stranger" has a moment that's supposed to be serious and dramatic where Anne argues with her parents over them making decisions for her and then storms out of a doctor's office. But the drama is spoiled by the fact that the plaque next to the office door is shown to say "Dr. Manny Cutts".
  • Nausea Fuel: “My psycho Mom fed me tapeworms” enough said.note
  • Strawman Has a Point: The protagonist's stepmother Lisa in "My mom Woke Up From A Coma After 15 Years To Get Revenge!" is depicted as being unreasonable for being upset at the prospect of her husband wanting to reconnect with his children's biological mother and have her live in their house. However, while she handles things poorly, it's hard to say she's wrong about feeling the way she does; after all, she's been together with him for five years. Combine this with the revelation that her husband had spent much of their time together lying to her about them being legally married, and one can clearly see where she's coming from, even if they can't condone some of her actions.
  • Suspiciously Similar Song: "I Lived In An Abandoned Place For Years" has a tune that sounds a lot like "Concerning Hobbits".
  • Unintentionally Sympathetic:
    • Kiersten from "I Spent 10 Years Looking For Him" is treated as an Alpha Bitch for sending an embarrassing video of Mary to their fellow students, but since Mary was seeing Kiersten's boyfriend Philip even though she knew they were together, it's not hard to see what she did as understandable.
    • Caleb from "Turns Out My Boyfriend Is Faker Than My Gucci Bag" is supposed to be seen in the wrong for calling Emma's business dream stupid after he finds out his girlfriend had feelings for her brother. However, he did nothing but be nice to his girlfriend and support her dream of becoming a design artist and he had a reason to get mad at Emma since she was emotionally cheating on him with his brother Eric. Caleb is made to look unsympathetic just so the story can justify Emma ending up with Eric. It isn't the first story where the female protagonist falls for a jerk while dating someone, either.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: We're meant to feel bad for Amara from "After 30 Years I Am Still 16" when she finds out that her boyfriend Greg has been cheating on her with a new girl in town named Lucy. However, while her anger at them was certainly not unwarranted, sympathy for her is undercut by the fact that she tried to have Lucy publicly humiliated before Lucy did anything to her, simply out of petty jealousy.
