• Accidental Innuendo:
  • Lines like this, though since you'd need to know Norwegian to understand, here's the translation:
    Little My: I thought I heard something.
    Snorkmaiden: I hear it too. It's probably just the wind.
    Little My: I think it sounds like someone moaning.
    Sniff: Don't frighten us like that, My! You know nobody lives in this cave! ... Ummm, it's probably just Moomintroll and Snufkin. They must have climbed down here already!
    Little My: Why would Moomintroll and Snufkin be moaning?
  • In the Polish dub of episode 7, after the Moomins get rid of the Groke by giving her a heart-shaped shell that Moomin received from Snork Maiden earlier in the episode, Little My stops Moomin by grabbing his tail and says something like "I wonder what will Snork Maiden say! You promised to kiss her shell every day!".
• Audience-Coloring Adaptation: The 90s anime is the most well-known adaptation, and many people imagine the characters as they appear in it, such as Snork being an inventor with glasses and a fringe, the Joxter's hat being red, and Lady of the Cold's appearance.
• Awesome Music:
  • Many pieces from Sumio Shiratori's soundtrack, and some of Pierre Kartner's songs for the same, especially the Norwegian versions.^note The best part is that's also a children's choir you're hearing.
  • The Polish versions of the second and third songs of "Comet in Moominland" as well as the first Japanese ending song.
• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: "Crooks in Moominvalley" has the infamous scene where Little My asks Snufkin out on a date. Little My has never shown romantic interest in Snufkin before, it makes no sense for her to want to date Snufkin since they're related - though it is possible they're unaware of this - and this ends up having no bearing on the rest of the episode (with the only acknowledgement that it even happened being one scene where Snufkin briefly looks nervous and tries to hide when he sees Little My running towards him).
• Fanon Discontinuity: There aren't many fans of Bouken Nikki, partly due to a lot less of it actually adapting from either the novels or comics; even the late producer Dennis Livson thought that the writers "had nothing left to mine from Tove's stories", and he even admitted that the season should have never been made. Doesn't help that the series has a really poor animation quality and characters tended to be offmodel.
• Narm Charm:
  • The English dub of the 1990 anime. It comprises of veteran British voice actors of the time, but weirdly putting on Southern American accents (that aren't always consistent) along with the usual standard defects of dubs of its time like rapid lip syncing and some cheesy lines. Being made for CBBC however, it maintains a softer direction, giving the whole thing a warm and fittingly offbeat delivery, especially for American viewers.
  • The English dub of Comet in Moominland can sound absolutely ridiculous at times. None of the series' English voice actors appear in this dub, as it was produced in The Netherlands. As such, an entirely new cast was used and, while the bulk of the main cast sound fairly close to the UK voice actors, Snufkin just sounds bizarre. Some have likened his voice to that of a "gay sociopath". Check it out here. It's also worth noting that no one seems to be able to pronounce his name correctly, with Snufkin referring to himself as "Snoofkin", Sniff referring to him as "Snurfkin" and Little My referring to him as "Sniffkin".
• Questionable Casting: In the English dub, David Graham, best known for his role as Parker in Thunderbirds, was cast as Snork. However, this was not a great casting choice as Graham was 66 years old when he first took on the role, 36 years older than Toni Barry who played Snork's younger sister Snorkmaiden. You can tell just by listening that Graham was far too old for the role.
• Strawman Has a Point: Both "Our Neighbour is a Tough Teacher" and "Adventures Of Moominpappa Part 1" feature a Fillyjonk character whose strict style of parenting is supposed to be seen as bad. However, the kids only get into danger when they disobey the Fillyjonks. ^note  In "Our Neighbour is a Tough Teacher", the Fillyjonk children are only in danger when they decide to play with Stinky despite their mother telling them not to play with the other people in Moominvalley. In "Adventures Of Moominpappa Part 1", Moominpappa nearly dies when he plays on the frozen lake that the orphan matron told him was dangerous and to avoid.
