- Awesome Music:
- The title song sung in the final battle. You can hear it here.
- When Super Robot Wars Alpha reaches that part, Minmay's singing overrides every other theme in the game, playing a single unbroken loop until Boddole's ship is utterly destroyed.
- Harsher in Hindsight: This is the film which revealed one thing about the entire series of Macross, and that is the Word of God fact that their words were translated INTO Japanese, and the main language on ship was meant to be English. This becomes heartbreaking for the fanbase since only one series ever got the English treatment, because of legal issues, so a small Easter Egg in this movie never gets the payoff it deserved, namely Macross, in it's entirety, in English as the creator intended.
- Nightmare Fuel:
- The bombed Earth. Just that.
- Once you get past the awe at the effects, the battle between the full strength of the Bodol and Laplamis fleets and the firepower they're casually throwing at each other. This is why the Zentraedi wanted the Minmay Attack and made peace with the survivors of Earth: even they, born only to fight, realize that everything is better than this.
- And then Bodolza makes it worse by firing his ship's main gun at the Meltlandi while tens of thousands of his own ships are in the line of fire.
- Suspiciously Similar Song: Minmay's titular song sounds very similar to Air Supply's "Even the Nights Are Better".
