- Adorkable: Zenigata's is so honest in his pursuit of the titular character, it's hard not to get attached to him.
- Animation Age Ghetto: Although the animation quality of the Pilot Film was high for the time in which it was made, few financial backers were interested in the project due to its adult themes of violence and sexuality.
- Awesome Ego: Lupin III. He makes his phone call right in front of the police station and later interacts with Zenigata both as a Bandage Mummy officer and KogorÅ Akechi.
- Escapist Character: Lupin and his cohorts steal what they want and generally do what they want and look great doing it.
- Evil Is Cool: While not really "evil" Lupin and his companions are still criminal Villain Protagonists who look awesome doing their jobs.
- One-Scene Wonder: What Goemon amounts to in this. He has the least screen time of the five characters who are given introduction narrations, but he uses that time well.
- Rooting for the Empire: While he is the closest thing to a hero this Pilot, Zenigata is still the Hero Antagonist and his nature and determination will have a lot of people supporting him.
- Signature Scene: Two.
- The first is Lupin in a Spy Catsuit outrunning police gunfire while under spotlights. This scene has shown up many times in other Lupin media.
- Fujiko riding her bike in front of the sunset has also been homaged many times, most notably Lupin III: Part 1's ending, Lupin III: Part II's ending 'Love Theme', Fujiko's drive to Paris in Mystery Of Mamo, and in Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine's first episode.
