YMMV / Drew McIntyre

Go To

  • Awesome Music:
    • His first-run WWE theme, "Broken Dreams" by Shaman's Harvest is equal parts ominous serenade and hard rock villain song, considered to be one of the best themes the company has produced since WWE went HD. The unused version is very much a different take, with faster pacing and the central use of a piano, and is also very good. When the theme was brought back at Clash at the Castle, the crowd erupted.
    • There's also Josiah Williams' Wrestle and Flow remix of "Broken Dreams", which adds a few rap verses that sum up Drew's character after coming back to RAW.
    • His entrance music in ICW (and later TNA), "Wish It Away" by Scottish rap metal band Psyko Dalek, is a high-energy piece that sets the tone for Galloway's ferocity, marking his similarity to best friend Jack Jester (who also has a Psyko Dalek theme song).
    • His theme since his WWE return, “Gallantry (Defining Moment Remix)” is a combination of bagpipes and pounding drums that evokes the feeling of facing down a Final Boss when Drew comes your way.
  • Creator's Pet: WWE invoked this reaction on purpose with the "Vince McMahon's Chosen One" gimmick he was initially pushed with. Unfortunately, it worked a little too well, as he was getting pushed up the card faster than he was coming into his own on the WWE stage, and even Drew himself admits the push may have gotten to his head at the time. This was the first cause of his push being pulled back, the second being when he got beaten by his woman away from the cameras.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: After his push got pulled back completely and he became a Superstars regular, his talent in the ring became even more apparent as he was now able to work longer matches, had grown acclimated to the persona and the stage he was working, and was beginning to work off that self-assured complacency that he fell into during said push. Many fans found themselves hoping and wishing for his push to be restarted, however whether WWE no longer wanted to use him in a high capacity again or simply ran out of room or ideas for him, it never materialized. He became part of a comedy rock band for a year and a half before getting his walking papers. Then he started working W3L shows and returned to ICW. Cue massive payoff.
  • Fan Nickname: His Power Trio with Baron Corbin and Bobby Lashley has been given the nickname of "The Midcard of Evil" by the guys of WrestleTalk and "Team Baddies" by Brian Zane at Wrestling With Wregret.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: His first WWE entrance song is titled "Broken Dreams". His first WWE run went from promising to abject failure.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Vince McMahon was the one who originally dubbed Drew The Chosen One, i.e. winning the world title and becoming the face of the company. Vince ended up being the last of many promoters Drew worked for since then who saw that prediction come true.
  • Memetic Mutation: "I prayed for this, and it happened." Explanation
  • Narm:
    • Drew trended on social media during the October 4, 2021, episode of Raw, where both Big E and Drew will challenge the Dirty Dawgs (Bobby Roode and Dolph Ziggler). When Big E. said "... against me, Big E!", Drew then quickly interrupts and follows up with "... and me, BIG D!". Very "Dirty", indeed. On the other hand, it got a substantial pop from the crowd and Drew himself seemed enthusiastic about the spot. Either way, it has since ascended itself into a Memetic Mutation.
  • Replacement Scrappy: Not for Drew himself, but for his theme song. "Gallantry", which he started using his return to the company in 2017, still gets a lot of hate for replacing the very popular "Broken Dreams".
  • The Scrappy: Became one for a period during the face portion of his run with the ICW World Heavyweight Championship, due to fans feeling he was simply using the promotion as a way to kill time until something bigger came along (he became a regular for TNA around this time). It certainly didn't help that quite a few of his title matches seen him defeat several fan favourites in the promotion. This was rectified by simply turning him heel.
  • Shocking Moments: Royal Rumble 2020, the night Drew not only Claymore Kicked Brock Lesnar out of the ring after Brock put in the most dominant performance in Rumble history, but went on to win the entire thing by hurling out overwhelming odds-on favorite Roman Reigns. He one-upped this moment by actually beating Lesnar at WrestleMania (36) and going from a former failed talent to the WWE's 31st Triple Crown champion and the first British WWE Champion.
