YMMV / Discworld Noir

Go To

  • Enjoy the Story, Skip the Game: The gameplay generally consists of just running down questions and moving from place to place while the story is an enjoyable Fantastic Noir.
  • Porting Disaster: The PlayStation version suffers from lower quality audio and visuals, resulting from the game’s compression to one disc (than the original’s three). It also has memory and sound (voice clips cutting out before finishing) issues. Not to mention the increased amount of load screens it also caused.
  • So Okay, It's Average: The game is generally considered to be this due to its lack of puzzles and generally tedious gameplay but strong writing as well as enjoyable characters. The Film Noir homage also makes it feel more like Discworld than previous pastiches as it is making fun of something specific.
  • Squick:
    • One of the murders involved the victim being eaten.
    • And the first victim had his eyes put out and was hung up to bleed to death.
  • Values Dissonance: Lewton's He-Man Woman Hater and Straw Misogynist tendencies are meant to be a throw back to Film Noir but don't hit nearly as well as they were meant to even in 1999 when it was released.
