YMMV / Danganronpa Class Switch

Go To

  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: During the last part of Chapter 2's Daily Life, Rantaro randomly flashes a Nightmare Face at both Gonta and Kaede during their free time events. Is this forshadowing of any kind? Does this happen for anything other than a throwaway joke? Is this EVER brought back up in the story? NOPE. The in both instances, it just pops up without any sort of context.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Himiko's constant snark about how she's going to the next person to die becomes less funny in hindsight when she ends up as one of the victims of the 3rd chapter.
  • Funny Moments: Has it's own page.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: For a fanfic based on Danganronpa Class Swap there are a surprising number of unintentional similarities between this and another V3 fanfic, I'd Trade My Life For Yours.
    • Both fanfics have someone attacked and knocked out during a murder plan.
    • Though the chapter number varies between the two, Kirumi is killed by Korekiyo.
    • The two stories also have Someone other than the blackened kill in the third case with Himiko being one of the victims.
    • Kiibo having his AI backed up after being murdered.
    • The 4th trial has the blackened attempt to put up a fight after being exposed.
    • The 5th case has both the victim and blackened work together to fake the former's death. However, the "blackened" is saved from being executed in this fic.
    • Though the circumstances are vastly different Kaito is killed in chapter 6 in both.
    • Both Kaede and Tenko are among the survivors in both.
  • Jerkass Woobie: A lot.
    • Hope's Peak Academy
      • Miu may be a vulgar nymphomaniac who was the first person to resort to killing. But it likely stemmed from her upbringing of her parents never being around due to work and not having the capability to form basic social skills. If her first free time event was anything to go by, any chance of a normal social life went out the window after getting caught in an earthquake required her to get excessive brain surgery that likely completely altered her mind. By the time of the killing game, the only thing she considered a friend was her pet pig. And in the Killing Game, the person she was closest too is gruesomely murdered and his killer escapes justice because someone else acted first. This fortunately mellows her out as she proves to be a strong asset to the group with her talent and seems to form a genuine friendship with her classmates, most notably Rantaro, even after all her set backs.
      • Tenko as well. Violent misandrist she may be, she had to deal with, in order, getting knocked out by Korekiyo, simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, followed by losing Angie, whom she had just formed a friendship with and framing herself in an attempt to save her, then losing Himiko, whom she formed a friendship with at the start of the killing game, before finally, ending up as the prime suspect of the 4th case.. All of that along with having to worry about whether or not she'll see her girlfriend ever again, No matter how mistrustful of men she may be, that alone isn't reason to endure everything that happened to her. Like Miu, she seems to be mellowing out of her more negative traits.
      • A different example with Maki. Her past of having to deal with an abusive mother, who was killed by an assassin, who raised and trained her at a young age to follow in his footsteps, along with losing the her lover before the killing game is traumatic. As is also losing Kaito, the person who cared about her most in the school. In addition to being forced to choose between who to save in her motive video. However, a lot of sympathy is lost for her when she is not only revealed to be The Mole, but also agreed to help Kokichi get the money motive by killing Kiibo, before killing Ryoma as well.
      • Kokichi can fall under this as well. On the Jerkass side, he's generally a massive nuisance to those around him and causes more problems than he solves along with killing Himiko as well as founding a crime group. On the Woobie side If his words can be counted true, he had to deal with an Abusive Dad in his youth. When it became too much, he eventually fled to the streets and had to live homelessly, with his only companionship being his underlings in DICE. While not justifying his actions, it does give him some sympathy in his final moments.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Has it's own page!
