  • Common Knowledge: The "God-Fragment" that the Ravelians worship being a cube; "praise the cube!" is a minor meme/catchphrase among the fanbase. The fragment is actually diamond/lozenge-shaped, as seen on the in-game religious symbol.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: Corvuria's first national idea:
"It is often said that the only thing poorer than a Corvurian peasant is the soil he tills, which is blatantly false. Land and laborer are equally poor here, and the only way we can get any richer is to work them both to the bone."
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Clanboss Dak Chaingrasper. Objectively speaking, he's just a successful magical warlord and the Chaingraspers are a cave goblin clan squatting in a captured dwarfhold. However, he's an incredibly popular character due to the ease of becoming a lich and setting up a special magocracy, and he's probably the mod's archetypal Dark Lord, even more than the Sorcerer-Kings of the Black Demesne.
  • Fridge Horror:
    • The Kukatodic humans northwest of the Lake Federation probably have to live under the constant fear of the freezing cold, roaming ogres, centaurs and whatever it is that prevented them from settling down.
    • The southern territories of the Lake Federation are covered with devastation at game start from the damage wrought by the Centaurs years ago, yet a century of war in Cannor hasn't left any starting devastation, so you have to wonder just how violent and destructive the centaur incursion was.
  • Good Bad Bugs: The bane of Forbidden Plains development was the "Ascension Bug", which caused countries to disappear and their player to enter observer mode. It ended up as somewhat of a in-joke among developers and is even referenced in an ingame event.
  • Memetic Badass: The Imperial Free City of Tellum is the strongest entity within the Empire of Anbennar, only Ulm from the vanilla game can rival its might. Tellum's national ideas support this status, as they claim that all town criers on the continent are actually Tellumite spies.
  • That One Boss: The Rianvisa civil war which erupts right after Aelnar's foundation, with its seemingly-endless duration and the sheer amount of rebels it throws at you. It left its mark on many unsuspecting Venaíl players.
