YMMV / Almost Naked Animals

  • Adaptation Displacement: The show was based on a art website created by Noah Z. Jones in 2005. With the original website being down for a long time now, the show has eclipsed it in terms of public knowledge.
  • Alternate Character Interpretation: Does Poodle try to get the Banana Cabana away from Howie because she's evil and spoiled to the point she thinks she deserves everything while Howie deserves nothing? Or is it the fact she knows that Howie is too childish and irresponsible to run a hotel and that nothing good can come of him being manager, to the point where she thinks it is in everyone's best interest if she takes over and hires someone competent?
  • Awesome Music: Whether or not you hate this show, you gotta admit that the theme song might never leave your head...
  • Critical Dissonance: The show received a lot of hate on the Internet during its day, with many calling it one of the worst cartoons ever (regardless of whether they had actually seen it or not) and user ratings on sites like IMDb and TV.com being around 2.0-3.0. Despite this, the show managed to get heavy merchandising (including plushies, water bottles, clothes, umbrellas, books, and even Taco Bell kids' meals toys!), Gemini Award nominations, a third season, and even praise from professional critics like Common Sense Media (which called the show " smart enough that adults will get some laughs right alongside their kids") and People Magazine (which called it one of the best children's shows of 2011).
  • Critic-Proof: The series is widely loathed by cartoon fans, and generally considered among the absolute worst of CN's Canadian imports during the late 2000s and early 2010s by Internet critics. This didn't stop it from not only lasting 3 seasons and 52 episodes, but also getting Adored by the Network to the point of even becoming the first third-party show featured on Cartoon Network's Cartoon Planet revival, as well as getting a ton of licensed merchandising for the US market.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: A G-rated example. Making Octo repeatedly "ink the bed" when he's scared is audacious, but when all the ink stains are in the likeness of the Banana Cabana workers...
  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • Duck, who is well-liked even by detractors of the show for being a fountain of hilarious non-sequiturs.
    • Cockroach and Radiation Rooster
  • Nausea Fuel: While the series is a Grossout Show, the scene where Howie licks the earwax off the toothbrush or Piggy making gum out of his earwax and belly button lint.
  • So Okay, It's Average: Those who don't hate the show tend to feel this way about it, seeing it as a pretty average cartoon once one gets past the ugly-looking characters. Some even feel that the series would have been much more well liked if the character designs were simply changed to regular, fully dressed-up animals.
  • Squick: Howie pulls out a glob of earwax as big as his hand and obsesses over giving it to the Ear Wax Elf.
  • Tear Jerker: Seeing Duck cry when Howie loses his lucky retainer.
  • Ugly Cute: Pick a character.
  • What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: Despite it's name and all the other controversies surrounding it, this is a children's show and is marketed as one.
  • The Woobie: Octo.
