WMG / Marvel's Spider-Man

Go To

Gwen and Miles are advertised extras.
They will appear later in possibly cameos or in later seasons, since it's back to basics it might be Peter to start a while and who knows the pictures of them may just show them as hwo they would appear for later.
  • Alternatively, Spidey will start out as a solo hero reluctant to team up with others but he changes his mind after Miles and Gwen help him save the day.
  • If it was later seasons, they wouldn't make merch for them yet.
  • They appear in significant roles in Season One, and are advertised as such in trailers and cast reels.
  • Jossed.

Venom will only be a villain for at least the first two episodes.
He's recently become good and the last show to have him was as a good guy.
  • Jossed.

The series will have eleven minute episodes with 22 minute finales, à la Steven Universe.
  • Probably jossed, as the premiere is a two parter with each part being 22 minutes.
    • Definitely jossed as "Osborn Academy" , the first episode after the premiere, is 22 minutes long, as are subsequent episodes.

The show is a sequel to Ultimate Spider-Man (2012)
After graduating from S.H.I.E.L.D Academy Spidey goes back to working solo while his old team, the New Warriors and the Web Warriors went off to fight evil world wide (save for Miles who wanted to stay close to his mother). The Venom that appears in the show rather then being created in a lab by Octavius, the symbiote is an actual klyntar that came to earth in a meteorite. The native Gwen Stacy through some circumstances acquires her own spider powers and joins the duo as Spider-Woman.
  • Jossed. It already confirmed that the series is set in its own continuity, separating it from its aforementioned predecessor and the other Marvel New Animated Universe shows.
  • Moreover, the first short shows Spider-Man's origin story, thus confirming once and for all this a new continuity.

The Sinister Six will be short-lived.
Since it's been revealed that Venom will be a member of the team, and if this iteration of Venom is similar to the comics...it's not going to end well. Just ask Sandman.
  • Confirmed. Vulture, Steel Spider, Rhino and Spider-Slayer don't take it well when they realize they were mind controlled.

Gwen will die
Except this time, since she's Spider-Gwen in this continuity, she will die in battle against the Green Goblin. She might even perform a Mutual Kill.
  • Unlikely, for several reasons. The main one being that she's Spider-Gwen, The Gwen that wasn't fridged and this doesn't seem to be the type of show that kills off major characters.

The Six shorts are going to be adaptions of the first set of stories from the Ultimate Spider-Man comic series.
Peter is bitten at Oscorp, and the second short is called Operation: "Observation", implying that Oscorp is going to keep an eye on Peter's developments, similar to what Norman Osborn did in the comic.
  • Jossed. The six shorts are instead focused on Peter understanding his powers.

Mr. Negative will appear in the series.
Possibly as kind of a replacement for The Kingpin.
  • And as a potential promo for Spider-Man (PS4).
  • Possibly Jossed, as both times the show used a crime boss, it was Hammerhead.
  • Confirmed.

Sandgirl will leave Hammerhand when she learns he's just using her.
BUT... she won't pull a Heel–Face Turn. It'll just make her worse, like Azula worse.

If Harry becomes the Green Goblin, his costume will resemble the one he wore in Spider-Man 3
Albeit with much more green, to justify the name. It seems like the kind of direction the creators would make, both due to the aesthetics of the shows and Harry's sensibilities.
  • Harry took on the Hobgoblin identity, but as a willing hero , though this is still possible.

Shocker will be a Decomposite Character
Herman Schultz just makes the sonic weapon, which will be stolen by a criminal to use for his heists or to fight Spider-Man. In a full-on costume of course. He could be a Canon Foreigner, due to them already using Schultz's name.
  • Or it could be Jackson "Montanah" Brice, considering he was Shocker twice before.

Norman's plans will eventually involve a version of the Goblin Nation.
Well, he's worried about Warren creating an army with the spiders he created and while he has the Slayers, he may decide to make an army with the stuff Harry made. If this happens, Harry will be a Composite Character of himself and Phil Urich, seeing as one of the weapons he made is a flame sword and this Harry looks more like post-Face–Heel Turn Phil than any previous version of Harry.
  • Jossed: while it's initially implied that the Goblin King is Norman, he's ultimately revealed to be Vulture.

Norman will eventually come face-to-face with the Venom symbiote.
Since, well, considering their respective voice actors...it's a spectacular reunion!

Once the Venom symbiote inevitably bonds with Eddie...
He will be voiced, and his voice will be none other than Daran Norris, from the 2000 video game.
  • Jossed. Venom, like Eddie himself, is voiced by Ben Pronsky.

The Sinister Five will expand into the Sinister Six.
As Doc Ock says, Sinister Six has a nicer ring to it.
  • The sixth member will either be a villain we've already seen, like Kraven the Hunter, Scorpion, or Sandman's daughter Keemia Baker... or this series' re-imagining of a mainstream comics foe like Electro or Chameleon, or maybe even some obscure baddie like Grizzly or Gibbon.
  • Confirmed. Doc Ock brainwashed Spider-Man into the 6th member in The Hobgoblin: Part 1.

We've seen Mary-Jane's Watson's face, but don't yet realize it.
Sort of the opposite of the comic's debut of M.J., her face isn't concealed, but hiding in plain sight. She's the unnamed auburn-headed cutie who is seen often in the background at the school and coffee-shop, and whom Spider-Gwen saves from a nasty fall during "Spider-Island". The glasses recall her short-lived "Brainy Janey" bespectacled look in Ultimate S-M after her and Peter's breakup.
  • Jossed. M.J. appears in season 3 as one of aunt May´s friend´s relative.

Hawkeye, Black Panther, and Captain America will appear in Season 2.
The voice actors from "Avengers Assemble" will reprise their roles.
  • So far, only Captain America appeared, but Roger Craig Smith did reprise the role, but anything is possible.

The Avengers in this universe will have their own spin-off series.
The Marvel's Spider-Man Avengers will have their own show once Avengers Assemble is over.

The mysterious evil Spider-Man in Spider Island is Ben Reilly.
If he is Norman Osborn in the suit, why doesn't he speak? You would think he would be gloating to Peter. It's probably a clone created by Jackal.
  • Jossed. It's actually Norman Osborn.

People will accuse Randy Robertson of being Spider-man.
Notice Randy is wearing a blue jacket, red shirt, and black pants, the colors of Spider-man. The students in school will suspect him of being the wall crawler.
  • Their suspicions will appear to be "confirmed" when someone saw Randy ran off, and seconds later Spider-Man shows up. If the person is a student, he or she will hang out to catch him in the act. Randy will be unaware of his "friend"'s true intention.

J. Jonah Jameson will be less of a jerk than he ever was.
The Fridge stated that if Jameson started ranting about how Spidey is a menace to society, that social media would get it disproven. Still it worth wondering, maybe Jameson won't hate Spider-Man. However he may as well see superheroes as "glorified costumed vigilantes", who the people of NYC have more faith in than "real heroes" like astronauts, police officers, firemen or newspaper publishers!
  • Slightly jossed. He's actually fine with superheroes like Captain America and Iron Man since, unlike Spider-Man, who shrouds himself in mystery, the former two are well known due to how much they're willing to let themselves be known to the public that they can be trusted.

J. Jonah Jameson will be the same jerkass from canon.
Once the social media disproves the bad things he says about Spider-Man, he'll blame the hero for how it'll affect his reputation.

Hobgoblin appearing before Green Goblin is a callback to the 90s cartoon.
And it'll become full circle by having one of the canon Hobgoblins becoming a Green Goblin.

The new media building Robbie Robertson promoted is for the Daily Bugle
Peter is confirmed to be working there during his sophomore year next season, so why not. We already had a few nods to the Bugle, we met JJJ's soft-spoken and polite genius son and speaking of JJJ, Robbie mentioned his "editor" in "Screwball Live".
  • Confirmed. The season 2 premiere has Randy Robertson use his dad's connections to help Peter get an interview.

The NYPD will be upgraded
Some company like Stark or Oscorp will have the loan weapons and gear to local law enforcement to keep up with superheroes and supervillains. Also hopefully Gwen's dad, Captain George Stacy will appear.

Liz Allan will become Firestar.
Since there's no arbitrary embargo preventing that character or identity from showing up anymore.
  • She's actually Screwball in this series, though the Screwball here goes from an antihero to a straight up hero.
    • Which makes this WMG Jossed.

Undoing Battleworld in Avengers: Secret Wars is the reason for Marvel's Spider-Man
There's been some confusion about the new Spidey design and characteristics in Guardians of the Galaxy (2015). Exactly identical to the new Spidey of this show, even though it's supposedly set in the original universe of USM.

However; Battleworld can jumble and rewrite multiple worlds and realities together, and like in the comics, nothing was bound to stay the same afterwards. Battleworld must have done a Cosmic Retcon on the events of Ultimate Spider-Man.

  • Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout and Avengers: Black Panther's Quest are a Continuity Reboot, now being set in this show's universe instead of Ultimate Spider-Man's.

Silver Sable and the Wild Pack will pull a heel face turn
The ending of "Take Two" strongly implies that the client that hired them to steal the Neuro Cortex is Doc Ock himself. While they have gone through Adaptational Villainy here, the fact that they were just hired to steal something for an anonymous client implies they at least have standards. If not a heel face turn, they will at least be mercenaries with more enhances nobility.

Max Modell will undergo a Face–Heel Turn.

Eddie will remain as Venom for the rest of the season, or perhaps even the series.
  • Possibly jossed, as the Venom symbiote left his body in "Superior" due to the experiments that were conducted on it, which enabled it to act freely without a host.

Peter will reveal his identity to Gwen and Anya during the Goblin War saga.
In "Goblin War: Part 1," the two believe that Pete is part of the titular organization due the erratic behavior exhibited by Doc Ock in his body and his snooping around Horizon High to get to his former lab (Otto quit Horizon in his body); at the same time, they are working with Spider-Man to solve the Goblin case. If Peter told them that he was Spider-Man, it would certainly remove any suspicion that he was a Goblin and quite possibly mend their relationship out-of-costume.
  • Jossed.

Otto will confess to stealing Peter's body to Max.
Otto appears to be sincere in his Heel–Face Turn and trying to be an ally of Peter's so it would make sense for him to at least own up to Max and Horizon that he'd swapped bodies with Peter when 'Peter' was acting like a jerk and quit Horizon, in order to try and make up for the damage he did to Peter's life.
  • This troper thinks that Max would not believe this if he were told by Otto, partly due to the latter's criminal record and the absolute lack of plausibility to the "mind-swap" explanation.
    • Jossed.

Yuri Watanabe will not become the Wraith.
Ultimately, though there may or may not be a point where Yuri is at her wit's end, she'll not become the Wraith.

Dr. Curt Connors is actually the Chameleon in disguise.
After watching Avengers: Black Panther's Quest, where Black Widow is actually Princess Zanda in disguise and turns the Avengers against Black Panther, I've come to the theory that Dr. Connors is actually being impersonated by the Chameleon. After all, his jerkass attitude and the fact that his superior is Norman Osborn are signs that he's an imposter.
  • Jossed. Dr. Connors is himself; Chameleon does appear though, but is impersonating Maria, Anya's step-sister.
