Yuuki Chihiro's early model, before auditions closed.
  • The earliest version of Yuuki Chihiro's model had a pink colour scheme making her look very similar to Madoka Kaname, as seen on the right side of this block.note , but her colour scheme was changed to blue by the time auditions had closed.
  • Ryushen was originally slated to debut with VOIZ, with Poaro Kaminari to debut as part of SEEDs.
  • During a superchat reading at the end of a Need for Speed Heat stream in late June of 2022, Finana Ryuugu reveals in response to a superchat suggesting Forza Horizon 5 as another racing game she should consider streaming next, that said game was the original choice for her stream that night, with her backup choice, NFS Heat, being chosen instead due to not being able to secure streaming permissions for her initial choice in time.
  • During OBSYDIA's first anniversary, Selen revealed their wave's cover of Virtual to Live. However, during a "behind the scenes" stream the following day, she revealed that it wasn't ready for public viewing as there were a few things that needed to be worked out. The cover was ultimately never released by the time of her contract being terminated around 15 months later.
  • Various non-JP livers were slated to attend NijiFes 2022. However, visa/passport issues meant that some of these livers would not be able to attend the eventnote . This led to some events requiring adjustments, with a few cases of on-site livers substituting for those that couldn't make it, and at least one event, such as one involving NijiID Gen 1 (3SetBBQ), to be cancelled due to one of its members, Taka Radjiman, not being able to attend. Related to this was the live 3D reveal for all of Lazulight as well as Hana Macchia of NijiID during the event, but visa issues meant that the only Lazulight member that was present for this was Elira.
  • During Ethyria's first anniversary, with the exception of Nina, the girls confess that they initially had aimed for each other's models before settling into their respective roles over the months; Enna wanted Reimu's model and vice-versa, while Millie and Enna did not originally audition for their current models, but got them anyway.
  • Selen and Nanashi Mumei once thought that they'd be joining under the same VTuber company, and didn't realize until much later that they respectively signed into different companies, making it awkward to say anything to each other until collab restrictions between the two English branches eased up in late 2022.
  • Of the first six members of the EN branch, Selen is the only one that was always slated to be in OBSYDIA, with Rosemi and Petra being considered for LazuLight before management settled on having Elira, Pomu, and Finana as the inaugural wave. Rosemi's simplistic lore video is apparently a holdover from these discussions, as LazuLight was forbidden from commissioning anyone prior to debut and Rosemi didn't realize that the rules changed for OBSYDIA.
  • Two of the names proposed for NijiEN's fourth wave before their debut were Royal Flashnote  and Prismarine, until they eventually settled on Luxiem. The Royal Flash moniker would be re-used for the Theme Park VRChat scene, dubbed "Royal Flash Park", that the wave debuted on their first anniversary.
  • Yugo Asuma had declined his initial invitation to join Nijisanji EN because he didn't believe his English was good enough, but after seeing Luxiem's debut, he was inspired to audition again, with him passing just in time to join Luxiem's counterpart wave, Noctyx.
  • Meloco Kyoran of XSOLEIL, in response to a question as to why she was in the English branch and not in JP, explains that she had initially planned on applying for the JP branch during early 2020, only for Ichikara (as ANYCOLOR was known at the time), to close auditions in preparations for Eden-Gumi's debut the following year as well as the introduction of the Virtual Talent Academy (which has a completely different set of entry requirements). She applied for real later that same year, this time for what would eventually be revealed as LazuLight and OBSYDIA, but was rejected due to lack of streaming experience, and it wouldn't be until another application in mid-2022 that she was finally accepted.
  • As Selen discussed here, OBSYDIA was initially conceptualized as the Evil Counterpart to LazuLight, back when their group was called "The Dark Unit", with the one possible name for it being "Phobia," which was veto-ed in favor of the group choosing OBSYDIA. Individually, Selen was the "Vibrant Evil" (not even she knew what that meant), Rosemi was the Yandere, and Petra was the Tsundere. Rosemi and Petra ended up switching the yandere and tsundere types naturally, long after they debuted.
    • Later during the 2nd Anniversary, OBSYDIA reveals unused character art from their key art, such as Petra's yandere face, her widespread flippers or Selen's pose with Ember looking directly at the viewer.
  • Ver Vermillion mentions here that his character was initially conceptualized as a vampire who could see a person's future by drinking their blood. This would eventually get scrapped due to not wanting to overlap with Kuzuha from the main branch, Ver's aversion to excessive blood, and the fact that biting the little girl he rescues in his lore video would be incredibly creepy.
  • Ren Zotto had considered spelling his name as "Wren" at one point, but then decided against it, with one reason being that it would be difficult for Japanese fans to pronounce.
    • Similarly, Ver's name was almost "Vier"note  before he settled on his current name, as he likes the alliteration of "Ver Vermillion" better.
  • Zaion LanZa had planned to host a New Year's countdown stream during the final hours of New Year's Eve 2022. However, on that very week, she was slapped with a 2-week suspension (which Zaion managed to get reduced to 10 days) for DMing a manager. This came about after she had reached out to and communicated with said manager the previous week (note that this was not her direct manager, but was one of two people that had helped the wave during their onboarding process pre-debut) about issues she was having regarding streaming and other related topics. Evidently, the manager of said manager was very displeased that Zaion had reached out for help like this, escalating the situation to the manager of Zaion's own manager, who then ordered that Zaion be suspended, with Zaion being forced, by Zaion's manager's manager, to conceal this suspension as a "family-requested last-minute holiday trip". Consequently, with the suspension period beginning on New Year's Eve 2022 and lasting for the next 9 days after, she could no longer host the countdown stream.
  • The EN branch, prior to the release of Hogwarts Legacy, did secure permissions to play it for the members that were going to jump in via the Deluxe Edition's Early Access perk, as noted by Zaion during her final Good Job stream (Timestamp is 30 minutes in). Unfortunately, Zaion would end up being infracted for mentioning this (with this being listed as one of the many reasons why she was ultimately fired a month later), as she was not aware that management for the EN branch made a decision to completely disallow any members from the branch from playing it, which in turn made it the only branch in Nijisanji to be subject to such restrictions, as the main branch (including all ex-ID and ex-KR members) and VirtuaReal are under no such restrictions.
  • In the music video for Ren's song, "Wanderer", the scene of Ren lying in the grass with the other ILUNA members was going to be at the beginning rather than the end. Ren would reach out his hand to block the sun from his eyes, only for it to transition to his clawed hand reaching towards the Earth from space as the song starts playing.
  • Before his character was finalized as an alien, Ren could have ended up as a dragon.
  • NijiEN's Krisis wave, the branch's supposed long-awaited "Gamer" wave, and technically the EN counterpart to NijiJP's Oriens and Dytica waves, was revealed in late June 2023 as a 3-man wave. However, the debut teaser showed four members rather than three, indicating that this wave was originally supposed to be a 4-man wave, as per this image showing off not only the 3 members that were officially revealed, but also one member that was also seen in the trailer (for reference, it's the top right character in the linked image), but was not part of the official announcement. This character was cut entirely as a result of ANYCOLOR not being able to find a suitable person to play this character. The shortlist for candidates had been narrowed down to two people, but the first one allegedly did not like the terms of the contract (and subsequently leaked his character's appearance when ANYCOLOR refused his request for further negotiation of said contract), while the second turned out to not be up to snuff.
  • During the Ethyria puzzle collab on Reimu's channel, they reveal that their unit's initial name was "Crises", which was chosen by staff. "C-R-I-S-E-S." The unit members chose not to use that name because they didn't like it. Ethyria asked if "Krisis" was chosen by staff, but the members of Krisis told Ethyria that they chose it themselves.
  • Sonny revealed during the 2023 Luxiem-Noctyx off-collab that two of the unit names suggested for Noctyx pre-debut were "Noxiem" and "Vesper", the latter of which Uki was particularly fond of while he immediately said "no" to the former.
  • Leading up to the first anniversary of XSOLEIL, the remaining members rewatched their debut trailers, revealing these behind-the-scenes tidbits in the process:
    • For his lore video, Doppio was going to voice the headmaster himself before they ultimately decided to cast Jun Fujiya for the role.
    • The other members of XSOLEIL were going to wait until their Debut 2.0s to do a full model reveal, but Doppio ended up doing his right away, leading the others to do the same.
  • During his playthrough of A Date with Death, Hex revealed that the line "All these kittens want Hex, they're so tired of the rest" from his song "U GOT HEXED" was originally going to have the word "bitches" instead of "kittens", but his manager wouldn't allow it.
  • In the aftermath of Selen Tatsuki's firing on February 5, 2024, both Joey Bezinger and Alejandro Saab revealed that in the months leading up to the reveal and debut of ILUNA, ANYCOLOR had personally reached out to them and extended them invites to join the EN branch for that wave. Both of them turned down their respective offers, with Saab in particular bringing up that one of the conditions for accepting the offer was that he would have to cease his voice acting career, a condition that he could not accept and thus had to turn the offer down.
  • In the lead up to Kyo Kaneko's graduation, several projects that would have involved him were revealed to have been cancelled:
    • Kyo and Ren had been planning to cover "Lost in Paradise" from Jujutsu Kaisen.
    • During Kyo's final zatsudan, he gave his audience a look at what could have been his 2.0 outfit.
    • When Ike visited Kyo during the totsumachi portion of his graduation stream, he revealed that he, Kyo, and Mysta had a song together that was planned but never came to fruition.

  • For their debut trailers, livers submit at least three one-liners to be used as their introduction, with management picking the one used in the final trailer. Some rejected one-liners include:
    • Pomu Rainpuff:
      • "Big busts and fairy dust!"
    • Finana Ryugu:
      • "Give me vitamin sea!"
    • Rosemi Lovelock:
      • "I'm rooting for you."
      • "I beLEAF in you."
      • "This is unbeLEAFable!"
      • "I like you a bunch!"
      • "Don't be a prick!"
      • "I'm exSEEDed to meet you!"
    • Petra Gurin:
      • "Ice ice lady!"note
      • "I freeze this moment in time."
      • "The ocean is calling."note
      • "Drown out the noise."
      • "We'll meet below zero."
    • Selen Tatsuki:
      • "The night's come to play!"
      • "Embrace the moonlight!"
      • "(Laughs) The night just started. Did it hurt? Good."
      • "It'll only hurt a little bit."
      • "You think I'm done with you?"
    • Nina Kosaka:
      • "Some people have all the luck. That's me. I'm 'some people'."
    • Shu Yamino:
      • "Uh-oh, sorcery! Spooky!"
      • "Curse you! Literally!"
    • Luca Kaneshiro:
    • Ike Eveland:
      • "Was there something you needed?"
      • "Let's pen ourselves a brand-new chapter."
      • "My, what a novel concept."
    • Mysta Rias:
      • "It's time to split up and look for clues!"
    • Vox Akuma:
      • "Ha...just the worship I've been looking for."
      • "Oh, those eyes...you look so lonely."
      • "You only got one life, why not give it to me?"
    • Uki Violeta:
    • Alban Knox:
      • "Looks like the cat's out of the bag!"
    • Fulgur Ovid:
      • "Hahaha, okay, doomer."
      • "A sheep in wolf's clothing, heh."
    • Kyo Kaneko:
      • "Sometimes it's fun to break the rules!"
    • Aia Amare:
      • "Oh heavens!"
      • "Someone call heaven because it's missing an angel!"
    • Ren Zotto:
      • "I just need some space."
    • Doppio Dropscythe:
      • “You need proper discipline.”
      • “Outta Scythe! But never out of my mind…”
    • Ver Vermillion:
      • "Let's see what your future tastes like." note
    • Vezalius Bandagenote
      • "In order to be healed, you must be hurt first."
    • Yu Q. Wilsonnote
      • "Ya got a bounty for me?"
