Jesse turned 10, he got a super wish. (uh oh)
He wished the whole birthday away.
Jesse and his friends fall through time and space
ended up in the Happy Land of Birthdays.
Together on an epic adventure of a lifetime
trying to get back home.
First they've got to find that super wish.
Be careful what you super wish for,
because you just might get your super wish!

Super Wish is a Canadian Animated Series created by Vanessa Esteves and Adrian Thatcher and produced by the world-famous Nelvana studio as part of their Redknot initiative with Discovery Kids Latin America (which previously also brought us The Dog & Pony Show and Agent Binky: Pets of the Universe).

The series stars Jesse Cameron, a young boy who's celebrating his 10th birthday. Excited and expecting a "Go-Kart, Laser Tag Birthday Blowout Extravaganza", Jesse's party is... much less than expected. Instead of exciting go-karting and laser tag (because Jesse apparently got a tummy ache at Johnny Hutchins' go-kart party), Jesse's family set up a birthday party at home with party games more suited for a much younger child (because his cousin Winnie helped to set it up). Jesse is even more mortified that his two friends Sadie and Xander have been invited to take part as well. When the time comes for Jesse to blow out the candles on his birthday cake and claim his super wish, Jesse can only think of one thing to wish for.

"I super wish this birthday party would just disappear."

Before he can blow out his candles, however, something strange happens. A mysterious gust blows through the room, Time Stands Still, and the cake turns into a portal that sends Jesse, Winnie, Sadie, and Xander to another world. Specifically, the kids have found themselves in the Happy Land of Birthdays, a place where all birthday magic comes from. Since Jesse never blew out the candles on his birthday cake, that means his super wish is still good. So, he, his friends, and the new friends they make in the Happy Land of Birthdays, such as Bon Bon the chicken pinata, Ronny-Bobby Candle 4, Fert the bendy ballon, and Maylin the warrior sprinx, Jesse begins his adventure across the Happy Land of Birthdays to find his super wish and get them all back home.

However, they're not the only ones searching for the super wish. A villainous balloon named Balloonicus is also looking for Jesse's super wish to use to put an end to birthdays. With the help of his army of caker pops, and his personal assistant Glenn, Balloonicis has turned Jesse and co.'s quest into a race.

The series debuted on June the 4th, 2022 on YTV.

Super Wish contains examples of:

  • Action Girl: Maylin the Sprinx, a warrioress and sworn protector of the Happy Land of Birthdays.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: Many inhabitants of the Happy Land of Birthdays are living party favours, such as Ronny-Bobby Candle 4 the candle, Bon Bon the pinata, Fert the bendy balloon, and Balloonicus the balloon.
  • Anthropomorphic Food: The caker pops who work for Balloonicus are an army of cake pops with arms and legs.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: The whole show happened because Jesse wished his 10th birthday party away, landing him, his friends, and his cousin in the Happy Land of Birthdays.
  • Cyclops: All of the caker pops are Cyclopses. It's probably a result of their round bodies.
  • Expository Theme Tune: The theme song explains the cast's situation, their goal, and what they need to do.
  • Once an Episode: Once per episode, Bon Bon the pinata chicken does a dance and lays an egg that contains something the gang can use.
  • Sugar Bowl: The Happy Land of Birthdays, where the main cast end up thanks to Jesse's super wish.
  • Trapped in Another World: Jesse and Co's situation. Jesse's wish caused a portal to suck him, his friends, and his cousin into the Happy Land of Birthdays. Only Jesse's super wish can get them back home.
